Most obnoxious song ever, but now it’s stuck in my head.
I fall in and out of blogging trends. Lately I’ve fallen out of posting for Jenn’s What I Ate Wednesdays, but when I remembered to snap a picture of breakfast yesterday, I decided to go for it!
Whole wheat toast/sriracha/avocado/tomato/basted egg
The day began before breakfast though, as I’m trying this new morning routine- wake up, drink glass of warm lemon water, wait 30 minutes, small cup of black coffee, then breakfast about an hour later. I’ll let you know if I feel the difference everyone talks about!
A few hours later, lunch.
Leftover Veggie & Sausage Bake/ an overly chopped kale, apple, pecan salad with ACV and walnut oil, topped with goat cheese/tomato slices
During the afternoon I also had a few bites of (unpictured) watermelon, a handful of almonds and another glass of lemon water.
I ate dinner with the girls around 5:00.
Romaine/wild rice/leftover kale salad/orange heirloom tomato/avocado/baked chicken/goat cheese
Then I left the house afterwards to attend an event at Whole Foods.
I kicked myself for eating dinner beforehand, but didn’t completely skip out on the delicious spread.
Wine/chili-spiced mango/goat cheese and pesto/olives/crackers/prosciutto
Plus an incredible (unpictured) scoop of peach cobbler.
After the meeting we got a quick tour around the produce department. I got to try a lychee (delicious and grape-like) and got into a discussion about wheatgrass. Next thing you know, my friend Courtney and I were doing shots of wheatgrass with the produce manager at 9pm.
Nothing like getting a little crazy on a Tuesday!
Since I don’t own a juicer (and I need another kitchen gadget like I need a hole in the head), I bought some ready-to-go shots of wheatgrass to add into my morning routine, just to see how it goes!
Have you tried wheatgrass?
Have you jumped on the juicing bandwagon?
Tell me about it!

Ok – warm lemon juice? Why? I have heard of benefits of that for morning sickness and acid reflux. But why for you? I know lemon juice and EO has antibacterial uses and can boost the immune system and help allergies. Those the reasons why? I don’t know if I could do it. Pure lemon juice? Or water added?
And wheatgrass? Besides the fact that it has wheat and grass in the name (both things my body doth protest about) it doesn’t sound like something yummy?? Why??

I’m cracking up- I totally meant warm lemon water, not juice! But yes, when you drink it on an empty stomach first thing, it’s supposed to help detoxify the body. My sister in law and my friend Courtney both do it and love it, so I’m giving it a try just for kicks (you know I”m weird like that).
Wheatgrass is a nutrient powerhouse! Again, just up for trying out something new. Come on over and I’ll let you try one 😉 (if it hasn’t gone to seed yet, it’s still considered gluten free!)

Fun learning – what a concept! You are truly a counselor/educator. You look pretty comfortable taking those “shots”. Had much experience with that?
Jacklyn @ Jack's Balancing Act says
Aww isn’t that the worst when you eat before an event, not knowing if there will be food, and then get there and so wish you could have an empty belly?! haha first world problem I suppose. Everything looks so delicious!

I cannot do warm lemon water, but I love lemon in my water…weird, right? Juice comes and goes for me since I don’t have a juicer so I have to wait until I am out and near my favorite health store for a fresh press. But they are delicious!

I love Lychee!!! A restaurant that we go to in Florida makes a cocktail with a lychee instead of a cherry garnish and it is delicious!

What a fun Whole Foods event! Is it horrible I love that shots song? haha It makes me want to dance (and drink!). 😉
Heather@hungryforbalance says
I don’t have a juicer either. I go back and forth about whether or not I want one. The whole “easily digestible nutrients” vs. “The filling fiber from whole fruits and vegetables” debate rages on in my head. Haha!
Wheat grass shots, huh? I will be interested to see how you like them.
Natalie @ The Ravenous Mommy says
We juice a few times a week at our house. My go to recipe is kale, cucumber, carrot, and 1 apple per person. Delicious and nutritious! Wyatt has been drinking it since he was 1 and he loves it 🙂
Dani @ DaniCaliforniaCooks says
I could easily make a dinner out of a wine/cheese/cracker spread!
Laura @FitMamaLove says
I’m not into juicing nor have I tried wheatgrass shots, but that food spread at Whole Foods looks delicious! And your whole day looks healthy and yum! I love that breakfast combo!
emma @ be mom strong says
I always eat before parties thinking I’m being healthier… nowadays people are making healthier things so I kick myself too!
My MIL used to swear by wheatgrass shots… but then she stopped so?????
And yes most annoying song ever!
Alex @ get big, go to work says
What a fun way to spend a Tuesday night! I love juicing, but definitely don’t do it as frequently as I would like. The end product is great but I just dislike cleaning that dag on juicer! I’ve heard you can make it in a blender but haven’t tried that yet- wonder if the cleanup would be easier?
Mary Legare Whaley says
Don’t juice. It’s a scam! Or rather, it ends up being a lot of empty calories that you don’t need. Granted, it’s a fun treat, but honestly, you’re better off making a smoothie out of the whole veggies and fruits so you get the full benefits, all of the fiber and nutrients packed into your ingredients. I don’t mean to preach, but juicing is such a waste. Eat the whole foods! 🙂
Brittany Dixon says
Yes I’ve heard a lot of people say that and I probably agree! I just think I got excited by the wheatgrass 😉 I’ll stick with my Blendtec for now – thanks! 🙂
