Hello and happy Monday! How was your weekend? The girls and I were solo for ours, as David took Finley on a guys hunting trip. While we certainly missed them, we took full advantage of not having a pup to attend to and spent a lot of the time out of the house.

Friday the girls had a playdate while I got my hair done. I picked them up around 4:00 and after 5+ hours of play, the were exhausted. I asked if they might be able to rally for a fun night out; they said they could! I had seen Christmas in Davidson was happening from 6:00-9:00 and though it had been a few years since we attended, I remember it feeling so festive.

It didn’t begin until 6:00, but knowing that the small town would fill up fast and furiously, we headed down early, grabbing a prime parking spot at 4:30 PM. We walked to Barburritos, a fast casual Mexican spot, for dinner and I had forgotten how good their food is. Highly recommend!

Our early arrival and dinner led to wandering Davidson before everything was officially up and running, which worked out so well! We wandered through less crowded shops and were in the heart of the action by 6:00, when the festivities officially kicked off.

We walked through the Christmas trees, chased the snowflakes made of bubbles, chatted with Santa and his baby reindeer, gawked at the animated snowman and his scene on the side of the buildings, and even participated in the kids crafts, like making reindeer food and pinecone bird feeders. The kids got hot chocolate and cotton candy. It was cool but not too cold, and honestly it was just a ton of festive fun.

We capped off our experience by walking through Bethlehem, which was so neat, as the booths set up displayed life as it would have been in the time of Jesus- the food, the spices, the basket weaving, and more. We watched the nativity and visited with the animals, which was a huge hit with both Hailey and Kaitlyn! We topped off the night listening to a small orchestra in a 1908 chapel. And we were out of there by 7:45. It was a wonderful evening and one I highly recommend if you find yourself near Davidson in early December next year.

Saturday we ran errands and K had basketball practice. H had a non-sleepover sleepover party (come at 5:00 and I picked her up at 9:00). She was to come dressed inspired by an Aladdin character (but not in a costume); she picked Jasmine and had a vision of how she wanted me to do her hair; luckily she was pleased with the result!

I was really proud of K. I know she really wanted to go to the party, too. Sometimes her emotional responses can be volatile, so I was really proud of her when she instead was able to acknowledge and voice her emotions, saying “I’m really disappointed I am not able to go to the party. It makes me a little sad.” We made the most of our one on one time together, eating popcorn for dinner, cheering Georgia on to a SEC Championship, and playing game after game of her choosing.

Sunday brought more basketball and I got to attend a baby shower for a friend about to have her third child. It was such a cute shower and I really loved getting to chat and catch up with so many friends. I wish we had a shower every Sunday afternoon; it was a lovely way to celebrate the mama to be and get in some quality time with friends.

David and Finley got home in the evening. I made carrot and red lentil curry (seriously so easy and so good) while the kids watched Once Upon a Christmas (on of our favorite Christmas movies for young kids). Today is our first official day of Christmas break and we are all looking forward to it… especially David…. I’ll share why tomorrow 😉 I hope your week is off to a great start; thanks for stopping by!
