Usually I don’t overshare my weekends because they are relatively low key, especially lately. However, this Saturday we decided to switch things up once we heard about Tuckfest happening at Charlotte’s National White Water Center. We grabbed breakfast and were there by 10.
For those that haven’t been, the US National White Water Center is incredible! It was used to help train Olympic athletes, but now it’s an outdoor lovers Disney World. It is HUGE and they have white water rafting, kayaking, rock climbing, a ropes course, biking and hiking trails, zip lining, an obstacle course and great food and beer selections.
For the festival they also had live music, competitions and so much going on that we easily filled up the entire day.
Even Hailey flew right through her regular naptime without flinching because she was having such a good time.
We took a midday break in one of the many hammock spots set up around the festival and between the shade and breeze, I could have napped for a solid few hours.
It’s easy to forget about the amazing places located near you, but Charlotte has some awesome attractions. I highly recommend checking out the White Water Center is you ever come to town.
Though I was bummed to miss out on the fancy beer selection, Hailey and I made do with frozen lemonade, which tasted amazing in the 80 degree heat.
All in all, it was such a fun day that I just had to share it! I loved seeing how many kids and dogs were there- it really is a great spot for the whole family. I know Koda was more than stoked to be included in the fun!
What is your favorite area attraction near where you live?

How fun! Looks like Spring has arrived in the South!
Also, Hailey’s little tank top and pigtails – I can’t even.

I am going to put her in pigtails as long as she’ll let me. I’m obsessed 🙂

My husband and I are getting ready to move our family to Charlotte this summer, and when we were visiting two weeks ago for a job interview we stopped by the whitewater center just to check it out. I’m so excited to hear they have events like this! And I would (selfishly) LOVE to see a post on your favorite Charlotte spots if you ever have the time/desire to do that!
Brittany Dixon says
Oh that’s exciting! Welcome to the Queen City 🙂 Where are you moving from?
Yes, the WWC is awesome and actually has summer concerts every week all season long. I hope they continue to do more festivals because we had a blast.
I love about 20 minutes north of Charlotte, but I do have some favorite places to visit and eat. I’ll start thinking up some ideas for a post on it, but feel free to email me if you’re looking for anything specific 🙂

We’re moving from northern Maryland to Belmont. I’m a little nervous about leaving (I’ve lived here all 31 years of my life!) but everyone keeps saying how Charlotte is such a great city for families, and we have a 1.5 and 3.5 year old, so I’m excited.
Brittany Dixon says
I’m obviously a little biased, but I just know you will LOVE Charlotte! Feel free to email with more info about where exactly you are moving too and I’ll give you some suggestions to check out. Good luck with the move!! 🙂

That looks amazing! I love the outdoors and would have such a blast there.
I don’t think I have a particular favorite local spot. I like being outdoors in general, so any park, playground, the beach, etc, makes me so so happy!
Chantal says
That sure looks like fun!

This looks awesome and maybe a way I can convince my husband that we need to go to North Carolina for a vacation in the future. Living in Texas makes things on the East and West coast so long to get to.

We recently moved from PA to the San Francisco area and I cannot get over how much there is to do outdoors! We are surrounded by gorgeous beaches, wine country, Lake Tahoe and just beautiful parks in general. I cannot get enough of the Golden Gate Bridge. I visit it often and just sit and stare at its beauty. The kids enjoy the zoo’s and beaches the most. We all are still in shock of the never ending sunny skies. What a beautiful state!

My parents live in Charlotte and my dad is bigggg kayaker so this, needless to say, is one of his favorite places on the planet! We went with my parents last summer for a concert they had and I remember how awesome the atmosphere was!! Such a cool spot! Nice to have it near you!
