I remembered to take pictures of all my meals yesterday! And I didn’t eat eggs for breakfast. What a day, right?! To celebrate, I’m linking up with Jenn for WIAW of course.
Love Grown Super Oats with Chia, topped with peanut butter, banana, honey and chia seeds
While Hailey was at school I treated myself to tea and computer time at Starbucks.
These rare outings make me feel like such a grown up. I love listening to hustle and bustle around me and savoring a few moments of uninterrupted me time. Bliss.
Unsatisfied with just tea, I decided to grab another drink while I was out.
I had my monthly pregnancy appointment and all looks/sounds good! I’ll be in the third trimester come Friday, meaning it’s time for the dreaded glucose test. It’s not that the syrup tastes bad, but I’m really hoping I pass the one hour test this time so I can avoid what happened to me last time during the three hour test.
Mixed greens with tomatoes, carrots, mushrooms, celery, red onion, avocado, goat cheese and Garlic Expressions dressing. Plus a bowl of leftover sweet potato chili.
Home for lunch and Hailey’s nap, followed by an afternoon snack.
Vanilla yogurt with Love Grown Granola and Blue Diamond Coconut Almonds.
Afterwards, Hailey and I met up with a friend for a play date and Hailey got into dress-up for the first time. She had to stop every 2 steps to put her heels back on, but refused to abandon them. I got such a kick out it!
And back home again for dinner.
Broiled brown sugar and bourbon salmon (I’m thinking of posting this recipe soon?), quinoa and kale pilaf with goat cheese and roasted sweet potato rounds.
After dinner I munched on a handful of dark chocolate chips while going over the upcoming months in my planner.
I have a feeling this year is going to fly by. I wrote down “Hailey turns 3!” on September 15 and had to stop and second guess myself. She’ll be THREE?! And have a baby sister to boot?
Oh time, why must you fly by so quickly?
Let’s chat…
Planners! Do you use one?
Is it paper or electronic?
I’ve returned to the old school ways of paper planners and I love mine.
I splurged on Emily Ley’s Simplified Planner this year and it’s amazing!
Karen says
Paper, unless you loose it it’s always dependable. Technology may make things easier but not always so dependable!
Tina Muir says
All that food looks delicious, especially the salmon! Luckily I am having salmon tonight so I do not have to daydream too much!
I still use a written planner, my phone battery wears down fast enough without it constantly reminding me of things! I also worry about it breaking, or somehow losing it!
Danica @ It's Progression says
I use a planner/paper calendar – it’s my favorite way to keep track of everything, the old-fashioned way! I do sync my days with my phone calendar though, just in case I’m out and about and need to make future plans.
Cheryl says
What a cute pic!! I use paper and couldn’t live without it. Last time I was home I forgot it so my mom Fed Ex’d it for me! Lol it’s an issue…
Laura @ Mommy Run Fast says
What yummy eats! I can’t not eat a handful of chocolate chips when they’re in the house… I resisted buying them this last trip, to give myself a break for a week. 🙂 And I LOVE my paper planner!
John J. says
Annual paper calendar that includes appointments, birthdays (Brittany turns 31 on September 20), personal notes, etc… Keep them and occasionally go back look at particular items.
Cute picture of “dress up” Hailey!
Brittany Dixon says
I still have a few from high school and college which are a riot to look back through 🙂 Love you daddy!
Claire @ Flake and Cake says
Wow dinner looks absolutely gorgeous, yummy!
Amanda says
You are seriously amazing. How do you do all you do plus have time to make all these homemade dinners?! You give me inspiration to do
more! 🙂
Brittany Dixon says
You’re so sweet! Food is just my thing- I love it! I’m sure there is plenty other things I fall short on… like having the ability to dress myself or dry my hair 😉
Staci says
I’d love to get your recipe for bourbon salmon. I have a few salmon filets in the freezer that need to be cooked and that sounds perfect!
September 15th, 2014 is my due date for baby number 1!!
Brittany Dixon says
September is a wonderful month to have a baby! I’m excited for you! Bonus point if s/he comes on the 20th (my birthday ;)). Congrats!! Hope you are feeling well!
Ashley says
Your oats topped with banana, peanut butter, honey, and chia seeds is my ideal breakfast! Love it! Oh and Hailey is the cutest!

love your little bump!!! hailey looks so darn cute. esp in the socks & heels. not gonna lie, i don’t use a planner. i make notes and reminders in my iphone.
mandi says
I can’t wait to see the salmon recipe
Alison @ Daily Moves and Grooves says
I use my iPhone reminders app as my life planner, an agenda book for homework, and a little notebook for blog planning! Sometimes I fall behind on one or the other, but they do help me organize my life quite a bit.
That salmon looks absolutely delicious! The recipe would be awesome 🙂
katie says
I have a planner for the details of my personal life, a calendar in my room with the bare details, and paper desk calendar for work bare details, and then fill in my work email calendar with the nitty details that I need of the minute reminders for. Some people find all the calendars overkill, but I like see different things different places.
Jen says
Did you work out before your one hour test last time? I did, and my doctor says that helps you get a lower number. Just a thought! I almost got sick this time and thought of you haha. So glad everything looks good w/ baby — I can’t believe we’re both so far along already!
Brittany Dixon says
Should I drink it, then workout, then get tested? I’m open to trying anything!
Jen says
Oops no! I just meant in the morning, before the appointment. Not sure it’d be safe to exercise immediately after drinking so much sugar and it may skew the results. My doctor makes us drink it there, so I forgot you have it at home!
Marjorie says
Happy WIAW! Girl, I have caught the chia seed bug! All of these blogs I follow were eating them, so I googled to see the nutritional info, and WOW! Love them in my oatmeal the best, but like you, I have been throwing it in/on just about everything! And feeding it to my toddler on his oatmeal, which he loves.
Yes, please share the salmon recipe! It sounds familiar to the salmon at Longhorn steakhouse, which I am obsessed with. I know, I know. Who orders salmon at a steakhouse? This chick! It really is that good.
I was lucky to avoid the 2nd glucose test when I was preggers. Thank goodness! I hope you can skip it this time!
char eats greens says
I need some serious ‘me’ time at Starbucks. I might ask Tyler for that next week. I struggle because I also want time with him (because right now it seems like when he’s not working, he’s home with Nia, but then I’m gone to school!). I know this is temporary though, therefore, me time comes first haha.
I didn’t buy a planner this year, but it might help if I do. I used to be such a planner and now I’m not. They’re all habits though, and I need to get back into that one!!
Ashlee@HisnHers says
Ive been loving honey on my oatmeal lately! I’m not sure why out of all of that good food thats the one thing that caught my attention, but really it’s a good combo haha
Angela @ Happy Fit Mama says
Broiled salmon – yum! And I love paper planners. I get so excited at the beginning of the year to start writing in a fresh one!
Emily Ley says
Brittany! I’m so thrilled you love your Simplified Planner!! And a handful of dark chocolate chips sounds AMAZING right now… off to find some! 🙂 xo Emily
Lauren @ Fun, Fit and Fabulous! says
I am a paper planner girl all the way! I tried to go digital for awhile and it just caused me more stress. I laughed at your egg comment, because it totally sounds just like me. Except, I eat eggs for every meal sometimes!
Paula says
That salmon looks delicious, please post the recipe!
I’ve always been a paper diary person but last year I switched to using a diary app and I love it!
Sagan says
Oooh I want that salad! Looks soooo good.
She is ADORABLE – that outfit is too precious! Must get dress-up clothes for my little cousins.
I use a GIGANTIC daily planner and track everything on paper – which is especially funny when the mother dear and I are making plans, since her “agenda” is all on her iPhone. I feel like I really ought to get with the times and go electronic, but… I love me some paper.
Matt @ Runner Savvy says
That salmon looks delicious!
Giselle@myhealthyhappyhome says
As I typed up my Munchkin Meals post for tomorrow I realized my little man is going to be three in less than four months! Crazy!
Becky@TheSavedRunner says
I love planners and live by them! I am all about the paper ones! 🙂 I guess I’m old school 😉
Jill says
I love writing things down, total list maker! I have tried to keep our lives organized via computer and it just isn’t the same. 😉
Dinner looks yummy too!
Sarah (SHU) says
Super cute bump 🙂 !!! I love my Erin condren planner and it looks similar to the Emily Ley!!
Heather says
Ooh, definitely please post the salmon recipe – we can’t get enough at our house!
Good luck on the Glucose test too!
As for planners, I use a paper one – myAgenda. They have a mom version as well, which I think will come in handy when my kiddos are older and have more going on that I need to keep track of.
