I can’t believe it’s been almost 2 weeks since I’ve updated you on Baby D’s progress… Where to start…

How about the Facts?

How far along? 23 weeks- in 7 days I’ll be SIX months pregnant. Wow.

Weight gain? 16 pounds of beautiful baby (it’s all baby, right?!)

"23

Just how big is that baby? At 23 weeks, babies are 11 inches long and weigh over 1 pound. I’m anxious for out appointment next week so I can get some real stats – I think Baby D is bigger than average 🙂

How I’m Feeling

I’m definitely starting to notice changes. Sitting up from a reclined position is becoming more difficult (ab muscles, where did you go??). I’m beginning to feel winded more easily, like walking up the stairs. Once I’m exercising, I’m OK, but it takes a little while to get warmed up.

I am also getting some calf cramps in the middle of the night. Nothing too bad, and they’re normal, but what a weird symptom! Getting up 2x/night to use the bathroom might be causing me to notice them more.

Oh, and did I mention my snoogle?? I finally got my snoogle pillow, and what a difference it makes in sleep quality!!

What I’m Eating

Everything? I need to get it together. I’m eating a lot and last week, pizza, Mexican and heavy carbs like bagels and pancakes snuck in more times that I care to admit. Oops.

This week I’m recommitting to less processed, more made-at-home whole foods.

Exercise

Though I’ve been sticking to my schedule of wogging 3x/week + prenatal yoga, it’s becoming difficult. I’ve been experiencing some pain in my lower legs on the outsides of my calves and I’m beginning to think that wogging may need to take a backseat until September.

My new plan? Prenatal yoga 1x/week. 35 minutes of elliptical OR speed walking at incline intervals 4x/week.

I’m also going to start adding in more strength training. Instead of saying more, I should really just say adding in SOME, since I haven’t been doing much at all. My Y has a circuit that covers both upper and lower body. I’m going to do half the loop each time I go to the gym.

Now that I have some new workout gear, that doesn’t stretch tight across my tummy, I’m ready to go!

Watch that Belly Grow

The Wrap Up

Baby D’s wiggles are my favorite part of pregnancy. When I feel kicks and bumps it makes me smile and I usually end up rubbing my belly and saying hello to my sweet baby. ‘Keep growing, strong and healthy sweet baby! We love you!’

Any questions about my pregnancy? If so, ask away- I’m an open book!
