Tuesdays are good days for me to update about Baby D because it is the day of the week I officially graduate to the next week of pregnancy! It’s amazing how each week is such a milestone. Today I am officially 17 weeks along. I feel like I’ve been pregnant forever, but at the same time, I can’t believe in 3 weeks, I’ll be halfway through the whole thing. Strange phenomenon. Here’s what has been going on…

During week 18 (Which I just entered into), my uterus is the size of a cantaloupe. WOW!

It’s so funny to me how the “bump” changes week to week. Sometimes I can see a bump, and other times I just look like my whole middle section is swollen. Maybe it’s just one of the many blessings of having a short torso?

5 weeks ———————————————17 weeks

Baby D is 5.5 inches long (about the length of a bell pepper) and weighs 5 oz. (average chicken breast). All these food references make me feel guilty. I ate a bell pepper with breakfast… Eeks.

The cutest thing I read? He or she has mastered the art of yawning! Is there anything more adorable than a yawning baby??

Exercise

I’ve been keeping up with my schedule- amazing for me. Wogging 3 days a week (30 minutes, about 2.25 miles), a more relaxed walk 1-2 days each week and prenatal yoga 1 day a week. I wish the classes were closer to me, because I would go more often. Prenatal yoga is fabulous. It stretches me out, relaxes me and works my muscles at the same time.

Wogging is challenging, but I’m loving it. I can tell a difference in my thighs, and that makes me happy, despite the scale creeping up, up, up!

The only thing with exercise? I think it’s contributing to my constant hunger. I feel like Chris Farley.

Food

Speaking of my outrageous appetite, I find that I pretty much eat constantly throughout the day- even more so than usual. I am trying to make the healthiest choices most of the time, but treats work there way in. Example:

The scene: Friday night

Hubbs: What do you want for dinner?

Me: Angel hair pasta with mussels, shrimp, scallops and marinara. A side of nachos (from Duckworth’s and Duckworth’s only…extra jalapenos) and about 5 hot wings with celery and blue cheese on the side.

They need to create restaurants solely for preggos!

Weight

I’m officially up 8 pounds from pre-pregnancy. For those wondering, yes, I’m keeping track of my weight. Not obsessively, but I’m curious to see how much I’ve gained and if I’m gaining at a nice slow and steady pace. So far, the doctor says I’m perfect. That’s nice to hear from someone other than my mom & dad 😉

Overall

Overall, no complaints. Although I’m usually passed out by 10pm, I am sleeping better through the night than I have been for the past couple weeks. I feel great throughout the day, which actually leaves me wondering if I’m still pregnant sometimes. I can’t wait to feel flutters and kicks to remind me!

That’s all for now! Have a fabulous day!

Love, Brittany & Baby D

Tuesdays are good days for me to update about Baby D because it is the day of the week I officially graduate…

[1482
