We enjoyed finding out that Hailey was a girl together on a special date night so much that we decided to do the same this time with baby numero dos. So last Saturday we left Hailey with good friends and ventured down to South Park, a ritzy, decorative area of Charlotte known for it’s high-end mall. The evening started off right with David picking me a single rose and had it waiting in the car.

We aren’t big shoppers, but enjoyed an hour or two of leisurely strolling, checking out the holiday decorations and swinging by to see the big man himself.

Our reservations at Rooster’s Wood-Fired Kitchen, a new-to-me restaurant were at 8:00, so we headed over a few minutes early to grab a drink.

I know this post is about the gender reveal, but I must through in a serious WOWWWW for Rooster’s. From the second we walked in, the service and food was beyond all expectations.

I believe the manager’s name was Chad (forgive my cloudy memory!), but he came over to introduce himself and personally escort us to our table. He even ordered up the most delicious mocktail for me. I wish I knew what was in it, but he only referred to it as the Mrs. Dixon. Haha, I loved it!

As we ordered and enjoyed appetizers, we went back over all the old wives tales, just for fun.

Finally, I couldn’t stand it anymore. I was ready to rip into the envelope!

We both put in our final guess- boy.

Then, I scooted in next to David and slowly opened the envelope. Our eyes darted around the page until David’s finger shot onto the paper and pointed it out to me…

IT’S A GIRL!!!

We celebrated and laughed a little too loudly for a nice place, but I couldn’t stop laughing. Of course it’s a girl! Of course I have no maternal instinct!

Our awesome waitress and the manager came by to ask the results and shouted with us when they heard the news. It felt like they wanted to celebrate with us, which made it feel extra special. After all, what’s not to celebrate about a healthy girl on the way?

Drink up daddy. You’re going to be swimming in a sea of estrogen!

We finished off the night talking about names, sisterly things for the girls to do and how David will teach them about water skiing and woodworking while we devoured assorted mushrooms and a melt-in-your-mouth pork belly and collards.
