Or more specifically, 38 weeks…and 2 days. And getting very excited!

Exercise

I’ve skipped the gym lately and instead have been enjoying neighborhood walks with Koda, plus my yoga. My walk pace is slow, but it always feels good to get out and move. I stretch at home, bounce on my ‘birthing’ ball and will do arm weights, too.

Food

I’m sad to say that I don’t have any fun cravings. I’m eating pretty normally and trying to fit as many fabulous nutrients in as possible. Carbs (pancakes, pasta) sound better to me than other options, so perhaps my body is trying to carb loading for the big event?

This doesn’t mean I haven’t been eating some yummy things. Like I posted on facebook, I loved Jen’s version of Eggplant Parm!

Movement

I still feels wiggles, hiccups and pokes all the time and still love them as much as ever. Well.. the hiccups can get a bit annoying, but I won’t complain because I love feeling my baby saying hello.

Progress towards Labor

As of last Friday, I’m still 50% effaced and 1cm dilated, meaning… nothing. Could be tomorrow; could be 2 weeks. Two days ago I was feeling great, then had about 20 minutes of what felt like extreme menstrual cramps. I got so giddy!…then they went away and I was bummed. Bottom line… I think Baby D is quite comfy for the time being.

Weight Gained

30.5 lbs total. It’s so funny to me how much I thought about this number in the beginning and now, it doesn’t phase me in the slightest. I still very much look forward to getting my body back post baby, but the number on the scale doesn’t mean so much anymore.

Sleep

My sleep is all over the place. Sometimes I’ll wake up every hour for no reason, other times I’ll sleep 4-5 hours until a bathroom break is needed. I’m sneaking in an afternoon nap here and there, which always feels great.

Symptoms

The biggest symptom I have to complain about right now is great, because I think it means Baby D is getting into labor position, but… how do I describe this? …

After a walk or being on my feet for a while, I feel like Baby D almost rolls onto a nerve and I get a pain that feels like a leg cramp on the inside of my thighs, way up high. It’s kind of a shooting pain that stops me in my tracks, but subsides quickly. It’s so odd.

Also, my belly feels really heavy, especially in the mornings. When I get up I waddle, somewhat bent over, until I feel like it stretches out again.

Looking forward to…

The thrilling feeling of ‘This Is IT!”. Meeting Baby D. Introducing YOU to Baby D. Pumpkin beer. Laying on my belly. Taking pictures of my sweet newborn wearing the adorable outfit I bought on Etsy! Wogging. Sushi. Long stroller walks in the cool weather.

And…

Unleashing my inner bad@$$ again… it’s hard to pull off when I’m sporting a watermelon under my shirt 😉
