Gosh I’m getting behind in these updates. I took pictures and measurements 2 weeks ago and have yet to post them. I’m not sure why exactly, but I think it has something to do with the fact that I’m comfortable with where my body is now. My goals no longer focus around weight loss, so a pound up or down doesn’t excite me like it did when I had 30 to lose.
I want to continue towards goals, but goals of running a 10k and of being able to get through the multiple boat and canoe poses in yoga without retreating to being sprawled out on the floor.
After month 8’s increase in weight, I changed nothing. I remember feeling bloated and didn’t feel like it was a true weight gain as a result of an unhealthy habit. I figured I’d wait and see what month 9 brought. Now I’ve seen that month 9 brought back my new normal.
8 months | 9 months | difference | |
r arm | 10.5” | 10” | -.5” |
waist | 28” | 27.5” | -.5” |
around belly | 29.5” | 29” | -.5” |
hips | 36.5” | 36.5” | 0 |
r thigh | 21.5” | 21” | -.5” |
r calf | 12.5” | 12.5” | 0 |
weight | 115 lbs | 112 lbs | -3 lbs |
Through this process I’ve learned that numbers mean less and less to me and I’m much more interested in the intangibles: the way I feel, the energy I have and the quality of sleep I get. Eating clean (most of the time ) and exercising happen to get me the highest quality of these intangibles and it just so happens that a healthy weight and measurements are a byproduct. Not to say I don’t enjoy the byproduct. I love that I feel confident wearing shorts and holding Hailey on my hip.
If I could find an effective way to target my upper thighs, I’d still do it, because goodness knows I don’t think I have the perfect body. But I’m happily comfortable in my own skin. Like it’s been said before, strong is the new skinny!

Congrats! You look fantastic and most importantly, FEEL fantastic.
My thighs are my trouble area as well (we are literally about the same size, weight and all!) and everyone has been telling me to do sprints and HIIT training. It’s definitely worked for me in the past few weeks (lost half an inch in my upper thighs), so that would be my suggestion. Oh and look up split squats, they target all KINDS of new leg muscles!

Let me add to this that HEAVY leg training helps get rid of the fat as well! Trust me, it won’t make you bulky either. Most women don’t have the testosterone to do that.

You’re looking so great. Well done. You deserve it with all that hard work you are putting in and that while you are a full time mommy as well.

Looking great! Love the hair :). At her nine month check up yesterday Audrey clocked in at 20.5 lbs…for me, it is impossible to not feel stronger after carrying her around all day! Though I think my Crossfit workouts help too 🙂

Wow, way to go! You’ve done so great with your post-baby weight loss. I am having a heck of a time! I’m usually about 116ish and cannot seem to get back there for the life of me. Any tips???

Looking amazing Brittany! Keep up the great work! The best part is that you aren’t so focused on everything, because you are happy in your body!

You look gorgeous, girl!! And you’re right … numbers don’t mean a thing. I need to remind myself of that more often. This past week, I’ve been eating very healthy and working out more than usual. So I expected to maybe be a pound less than normal. I stepped on the scale … and I’m 3-4 lbs more than usual haha! But I had to just laugh, because I know I’m eating right and working out, so who cares what the scale says?!
Katie @ Pop Culture Cuisine says
Yeah I’m also trying to focus less on numbers and more on how I am feeling. I have realized lately that now that my milk supply is tapering off quite a lot now that she is eating more solids, I really need to go back to eating more intuitively. I have found myself eating a lot out of habit lately and less out of hunger just due to 9+ months of eating a bit extra because my body needed it. I’m not overly concerned that a few pounds have crept back up, I just know that I need to be mindful of all my bites at all of these wonderful holiday bbqs 🙂
