I’ve learned a lot over the past 6 months.

I’ve learned that despite my previous beliefs, I can, in fact, wake up every single day (weekends included) at 6:30am and live.

I’ve learned that nipple pain, infant poop and sex drive are perfectly acceptable topics of conversation among friends.

I’ve learned that raising Hailey will undoubtedly be one of the greatest joys of my life.

And I’ve learned that it is possible to feel good in your body again after having a baby.

And that’s where I am today. I feel good in my body. I don’t feel ready to walk to Victoria’s Secret runway, but let’s be honest, I didn’t feel up for that before kids either.

"6

What I do feel is proud. Proud of the work I’ve done to get to where I am. Proud of the long wogs I accomplished after having to mentally kick myself in the butt. I’m proud of buying vegetables and grains so I had no choice but to make us something healthy for dinner, since it’s all that was in the fridge. Proud, in awe, and humbled by the fact that my body was able to grow and birth my beautiful baby girl and become stronger after this experience than I was before.

"6

You’ve pretty much seen everything I’ve been eating. Healthy, absolutely, but it has also included french fries, beer, hot wings (before I was a pescatarian for Lent, of course), ice cream and pizza. It’s the 90/10 I strive for.

My workouts have overall been consistent with some days off when I’ve been under the weather (what the heck does under the weather even mean?) I’ve kept up wogs, even after quitting Couch to 10k and I have Tina to thank for placing strength training back on top of my priority list. It really does make such a big difference.

"leg

Perhaps most importantly I’m feeling great mentally, too. Between old friends, new friends and family, I feel connected, supported and loved. You can’t underestimate how important those are to health, too.

But now to the numbers…

When I first got pregnant I weighed between 113-113.5 and now, 6 months later, the scale bounces between 112.5-113. I’m under pre-pregnancy weight. I never though I’d see that at 6 months! But this says it better.

"6

Am I at the end of my journey? Nope. I’m still wanting to tone up, wog longer and be stronger, but I’m pretty pleased with where I am now, too.

So you tell me, should I continue with monthly updates through a year postpartum or not?
