Happppppy Friday!
I have a few announcements before we get my first VLOG ev-ah.
First, Munchkin Meals is on Thursday and is going to be a full day of eats. It’s been a while since we’ve done that and I’m anxious to see how much and how often other munchkins eat, so please snap some pictures and join in! Don’t forget to list your child’s age.
Also, so sorry y’all; I forgot to pick a winner for the Food Lion giveaway! So, the winner of the $100 gift card is…
Michelle from Life with a Crazy Pup! Email me your address and I’ll send your gift card out ASAP.
OK, enough procrastination, here it is, my accent vlog! You can see me ramble LIVE now, wahoo! Haha. Anyways, I’d love to hear if you think I have an accent or not.
…And for the THIRD time now, have a fabulous weekend
Shari says
That was so fun!
Hmm … it definitely sounds like you have an accent when you say “y’all” – and maybe a couple other words – but for the most part, I agree that you don’t have much of one. Also, you are the first person I’ve ever heard call it a “granddaddy long legs” – everyone here just says “daddy long legs,” but I like your way better!
Brittany says
I’ve gotten that from a few people and think it’s so funny! I’ve always called it a grand daddy long legs and never even knew there was a different version- haha!
Maria says
YES! I call it a GRANDdaddy longlegs, too! We are kindred spirits, Brittany 🙂
Lee says
I had my husband do this at one point (it’s on my blog somewhere) and he also said Granddaddy long legs, which i’d never heard before.
Kristi says
Fellow NC girl here and I also call it a grand daddy long legs! Any other variation doesn’t sound right to me!
Jessie says
What a fun Vlog!! I don’t think you have an accent AT ALL!! Whoever thinks you do, are just crazzayy!! ((okay well maybe the whole grand daddy long leg is a bit strange, but other than that your good!!))
Adria @ A Spoonful of Healthy says
I’m at work right now so I can’t listen to your vlog now but I am sooooo anxious to get home to listen!!!! This is so exciting!! 🙂
Sara says
I think you have a slight accent, and love the y’all’s! I loved the vlog, you sound much different than I thought you would in my head, but I’m so glad to finally put a real voice to the words! Have a great weekend!
Brittany says
How was my voice different than you thought? Deeper, right? Sometimes I think I sound like such a man- ha!
Sara says
Yes, much deeper than I thought but you don’t sound anything like a man!! I really loved the vlog, I hope you do more of them!!
Hanna says
I don’t think you have an accent except for when you say y’all. I also say granddaddy long legs!
Brittany says
I think you and I are the only two people that say granddaddy long legs- I love it!
Lauren B. says
I say it too! I grew up in Atl … It’s probably a Southern thing. I don’t think you have an accent, people tell me I don’t either. I think people who are from Atl escape without much one. It was fun to watch you!
Kaitlyn @Keeping up with Kaitlyn says
So fun! I am to scared to do a vlog, but this seems like a fun one to start out with! I think you have a little bit of an accent. I don’t feel like I have an accent either, but my friends say that some of my words sound more southern and when I get upset/worked up about something they say it is definitely southern! Weird, I know!!
Have a great weekend!
Erica says
I’m from the deeeep south (Panhandle of Florida but we’re considered lower alabama!) and you certainly do not have an accent!
Kelly @ Runmarun says
You are adorable- it was fun to hear your voice! Lula was quite mesmerized when I pressed play on your vlog…she crawled over to me as soon right away and tried to look at the computer screen! I don’t really hear much of an accent at all. Have a wonderful weekend!
Brittany says
That’s because Lula thought she was going to get to talk to her pal, Hailey! What a disappointment that it was just me 😉
Paulina says
How cool to hear the voice behind the blog! You sound a little different than I expected, like your voice is a bit lower than I imagined. Its nice! I don’t think you have an accent either, and I am from the north (Michigan) so I expected you to sound southern to me. I would have the same answers as you except for the spider one (daddy long legs) and the coke one (pop).
blackhuff says
Southern?
You don’t have an accent but what does give you away, is the “Y’all” you’re saying. But no, you don’t have an accent.
I loved your vlog and would love to see more of them.
Melissa G says
I love that!
Being from New Hampshire, and obv having no accent 😉 I feel you do say something things with an accent. First you started with “Ya’ll” which to me is very southern and makes you seem like you would continue talking with an accent. Although for the most part you talk like us New Hampshire-ians. However, I also caught you saying a few things different. When you said “Pa”, you drew it out a bit longer than I believe it is. And when you said “Coke” the real word is soda, “what kind of soda would you like?” Ha. We also say “TP-ed” for toilet papering a car/house etc. Ok…Obv I don’t have the accent, right?
Great Vblog =)
jennifer says
I am from New Hampshire also but lived in Chattanooga TN for 9 years (during college and most of my marriage). I don’t think you have an accent either. Except the Ya’ll.
jennifer says
Alana loved watching your video! Birthday blog coming soon. 🙂
Liz @ IHeartVegetables says
Hahaha Brittany you are so cute. I love how you say ya’ll 😉
christina says
you are not at all awkward! you have a great speaking voice. so assertive and comfortable w/ yourself! 🙂 we say everything the same except for aunt and caramel… oh and pecan. hehe 🙂
Kelli H (Made in Sonoma) says
Definitely heard an accent when you were talking. When you went through the list, not as much.
I say “TP a house”, so that’s funny.
It’s never “Coke” here, it’s soda. haha.
Also, the “grand daddy long leg” was funny, since we say “Daddy long leg”.
I think that was it though! 🙂
Lisa says
Awe, your adorable! Not awkward on camera. I know what you mean though, I feel awkward when I post vlogs too.
You definitely have a little accent to me. Like when you say caramel and spitting image;)
And now I kind of want to start saying y’all. I love when people say it.
Jill says
I loved your vlog! I imagined your voice to be much higher and perkier, haha. It’s deeper, but not manly at all 🙂 I think the whole coke thing is hilarious. I’m Canadian and say “pop”.
Maria says
You are so cute. I tried making this video last year and was too embarrassed to even finish making it. I also rambled. And I sound like a 10 year old girl.
Your voice is much deeper than I thought and I’m not sure why I thought it would be higher. But, not too much of an accent…just enough to represent the good Old South though!
Danielle @ Long May You Run says
You have such a beautiful smile! You strike me as the type of person that can naturally make people smile because you’re so happy =)
Always nice to meet another person who understands the coke thing. I’ve heard the reason why southern’s say that is because the Coca Cola factory is in Atlanta, so it just became customary to say “coke,” whether or not you’re asking for a Pepsi, 7-Up, Coke, etc.
Abbie says
Totally surprised by your voice! I thought it would be really young sounding if that makes any sense. cute! 🙂
Abbie says
PS now lets see one of you and miss hailey!! 😀
Brittany says
That’s a great idea! Maybe H will make her vlog debut soon 😉
Lee says
I think you have a slight southern accent, especially with the hey y’alls but not really very pronounced. However, since I live in Atlanta, I’m pretty used to southern accents and tend to not always notice them. My husband is from SC and whenever we go visit my family in the DC area, they always comment on his accent. I don’t really hear it though I know he has one.
Elle says
That’s a fun vlog! Your answers are way different than what I would say but it doesn’t sound like you have an accent. I think it’s funny that you call all pops “coke” 🙂
Megan @ My Path in Motherhood says
I have to chime in and say you are super cute! And thank you for getting Molly’s attention for 3 1/2 minutes, she almost rolled over to watch you on my laptop! Haha! I don’t think you have an accent at all! I love the coke though, I never knew that people called soda in general “coke” until about a year ago!
Sorry for all the exclamation points. Apparently I’m excited?? Haha!
Brittany says
Aw, thanks!! H loves when I play videos on my computer, too. It totally mesmerizes her!
PS- It’s never too many exclamation marks for me! I use them all the time, oh and emoticons, too 😉
Brittany says
I have never used coke as a general term. I always say soda. I have a friend from Chicago and he calls it pop. I also say caramel (pronounced carmel) for when it is hard. Like carmel corn. But caramel (pronounced caramel) when it is the sticky liquid like on ice cream. Does anyone else say it like that? Or is it just me?!
Emily B says
Hey, I loved your Vlog!
I “believe” I’m the only Australian commenter . . . maybe? And we call carbonated drinks, “soft drinks”. We also call four-wheeled contraptions in the supermarket, “trolleys” so that’s interesting:P
Brittany says
I’ve definitely heard of soft drinks, but never trolleys! That’s makes them sound so cute 🙂
If I could choose any accent to have it would be Australian!! Hope to visit your country someday!
Brittany says
australian accent + cute guy= swoon-fest party of one!
Kate Trims says
Hi Brittany,
Another Aussie fan right here, love your blog and your vlog was fantastic!! I love your accent!! 🙂
Suzana says
You totally have an accent!! (everyone does to someone that’s from somewhere else!)
You have a Southern accent thing going on, I hear it especially when you say some words (wrrrds, crrrrayon, y’all). And the way you sort of round out a word – the vowel sound is longer, but the end of words are shorter and rounded.
