I tried a new recipe on Sunday with full intentions of showcasing how delicious it was.
Unfocused picture aside, I decided not to post the play by play of the recipe for the reason that it wasn’t all that great… at least to me. The sourdough parmesan breadcrumbs were crunchy and delicious, as were the potatoes, but alas, it’s official. I just do not like beets.
If you do like beets (I’m looking at you, Xtina), then maybe you should check out the Root Vegetable Gratin from William Sonoma Eating Well. It would make a beautiful Thanksgiving side dish.
With no Thanksgiving recipe to showcase, I decided to show off my favorites that I’ve seen around the web. In my dreams, all these wonderful ladies would work together in an ridiculously oversized kitchen to create a meal worthy of Joey’s Thanksgiving pants and all their glory.
In my food lovers’ Thanksgiving meal…
I’d start by snacking on some perfectly roasted chickpeas by Lindsay
while sipping on a warm mug of spiked cider with baked apple crisps thanks to Gina.
Once I was feeling all warm and cozy inside, I’d load up my plate with Butternut Squash Mac and Cheese from Kristin,
a giant helping of Cranberry Orange Brussels Sprouts with Walnuts that Emily whipped up.
Of course I couldn’t leave out the main event, a slice of Beer Brined Roasted Turkey by Lauren.
My face would light up with joy when I saw Jen’s Cheesy Mushroom Pull Apart Bread on the table. I’d grab a hunk… or two… or three (hey, it’s Thanksgiving!)
Now, let’s just pretend I didn’t stuff myself silly on all the delicious food and still had room left over for dessert. Well, then I would have to sample a few of Katie’s Spiced Sugar Cream Cheese Cookies, because I’m a sucker for anything with cream cheese!
Of course, it would be rude for me to not bring anything to share, so I’d wrap up each guest a Mini Pecan Pie to enjoy later when their stomach’s could handle food once again.
Yes, this would make for quite an amazing Thanksgiving feast!
…but lucky for me, my Nannie puts on a Thanksgiving production to be envied, so I’m looking forward to quite a fantastic meal- southern style!
What dish would you bring to this Supper Super?

Being of Indian heritage, we never really celebrated Thanksgiving with the traditional food. We would eat together and say our thanks but never with Turkey and all the fixins. For example, this year my mom is making her famous enchiladas – so we’re going with a Mexican theme! You never know what you’re going to get with us!! 🙂

A Mexican themed feast?! That sounds amazing 🙂
Of course, I think I’d love to come to an Indian feast, too! Love Indian food, but I’m not very good at preparing it.

Oh man, if I wasn’t already excited enough for Thanksgiving, now I’m pumped! I always look forward to the green bean casserole the most (and pie… duh), but of this list, I think the Brussels sprouts sound pretty awesome.

Stuffing! You can’t forget the stuffing! And I’m not talking the kind that comes in a box. No, I’m talking one that’s hearty and moist and chalk full of apples and celery and cranberries and nuts…yum!
Gina @ Running to the Kitchen says
Love this! Katie’s cookies have literally been tormenting me since seeing them. Don’t they just look so fluffy and perfect?!
Thanks for the cider love 🙂 Happy T-day!

Hands down, I would share two dishes:
My great-grandmother’s noodles: http://notsodomesticated.com/what-i-ate-for-thanksgiving-our-familys-noodle-recipe/
And a pumpkin gooey butter cake: http://notsodomesticated.com/a-thanksgiving-must/
Sadly, I won’t be having either dish this year, because I’ll be with my husband’s family in Ohio. But hopefully I’ll have the noodles for Christmas instead. 😉

Still a Southern girl at heart, no holiday feast is complete without sweet potato casserole!

I always do the cooking at my mom’s house for Thanksgiving and I’m usually one big stress ball, that I don’t stop to take pictures and just enjoy the day. That changes this year! My favorites that everyone loves every year is Pumpkin Spice Trifle and Sweet Potato Soufle.
Lindsay @ The Lean Green Bean says
LOVE this! thanks for including me 🙂 happy thanksgiving friend!

I’ve seen that pull apart bread before and it looks so good! I wish I had more time. Haha.

I just really love that you referenced Joey’s Thanksgiving pants 🙂

Beets are the WORST! I’ll just never be able to get over being served canned beets as a child. To me, every beet is a canned beet. Yuck!
Happy Thanksgiving! These recipes all look so good!

I can’t get behind beets either. Taste like dirt to me. Xtina and I are still hopefully friends, as we bond over Chick Fil A.
Stuffing, with gravy (cannot forget the gravy), is by far my favorite Thanksgiving dish. And I used to HATE it growing up, so it’s kind of odd that I cannot get enough of it now.
Matt @ The Athlete's Plate says
Yes please to that mac and cheese 🙂
Lauren @ Lawfully Wedded Wife says
I’m not a beet person either…no matter how hard I try! Thanks for including my turkey in this awesome post!
