Remember when I told you we were renovating our master bath? No? Oh, that’s because it was only 3 1/2 months ago! Ha, yes it has been a little while since I showed you guys our before version of our master bath.
The project took a little longer and cost a little bit more than we anticipated, but doesn’t it always?
Still, it’s now FINISHED and we are loving it! Our main goal was to update it. The light switches in the mirrors, the outdated lighting and the corroding faucets all needed to go (click here to see the before pictures). And now, without further delay, come take a peek!
We kept the footprint of the bathroom, which is a pretty odd shape, because we weren’t looking to tear down and move any walls. We knew we wanted a bigger shower and debated what to do with the tub. The tub took up a big awkward space before and since we both aren’t bath people, we wanted to minimize it somewhat. Our contractor suggested a pedestal tub, so we went that route.
I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about it sticking out into the room, but it actually fit really nicely into the funny window corner and didn’t stick out as far as I thought it would. It turned out perfectly for the space!
We also needed new cabinets and to get rid of my vanity-style cabinet, so new cabinets were purchased, as well as new granite counter tops, new mirrors from MirrorMate (because we couldn’t find any that fit our dimensions) and new lighting fixtures.
Since we tore the bathroom down to the studs, everything was new, including the tile and fixtures. I fell in love with our faucets.
We chose Moen’s Wynford line in brushed nickel and immediately loved our decision. The faucets are gorgeous and sleek, but I really love the solid, sturdy feel. They are easy to wipe down too, which is a definite bonus.
And now my favorite part of the new bathroom…
Our shower!!
I love everything about this shower. From the tile that doesn’t show grime to the two Moen shower heads that have great water pressure and size of spray. I am also a big fan of the handheld shower option. We use it all. the. time.
After the lake or the pool, I hop in there with the girls and they splash around while I use the handheld to shower them off. I use it to bath Koda and to clean the shower.
I also love that the handles pull directly out from the wall to turn on, making it easy to leave your shower set on your perfect water temperature. Talk about a luxury.
I can’t tell you how good it feels to have our new bath up and running after about 2 months of being out of our bathroom, bedroom and closet. Though it still may need a decorative touch or two, I want to take our time and find things we really love, like our freestanding towel rack. And on that note, I’m actually off to shower now!
What is most important to you in a master bath?
Any suggestions for a pop of color, decorative accents or bath mats for our new space?
Moen provided our new faucets and shower accessories free of charge, but all opinions are my own. We love how it turned out and in fact, my in-laws loved the Moen faucets and shower heads so much they chose to use them exclusively in their new house they are building! They are incredibly high quality.

I LOVE it!!! It’s so beautiful and that shower is amazing.

I love it! We remodeled our whole house before moving in last year, & the shower in the master bath is our fave! It’s a lot like yours, but we only have 1 shower head, which is a regret.

So smart to renovate it all before moving in!! Having people in your house for two months while you are living there (especially with kids!) isn’t the best.
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl says
Wow! It is gorgeous and I absolutely LOVE that bathtub!!
Erin @ Her Heartland Soul says
Beautiful! I love the look!
Jessica @ Our Young Adventures says
Ahh! I LOVE this. How do you get out of that shower?! Two shower heads! This is really nice and classic. I always struggle with the pops of color as I always keep everything pretty neutral to keep the flow throughout the house nice. Maybe go with some blues since you have earthy tone colors already.
Brittany Dixon says
Haha, we must love the same colors! David and I are neutral lovers and our whole house is the same, with small pops of, you guessed it, blue!
Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine says
You wouldn’t be able to get me out of there! Love the shower!

I just recently starting following your blog and I have to say I absolutely love it!! I also loveeeee your new master bath!! Where did you get the pendant light over your bathtub?
Brittany Dixon says
Thanks so much Sue!! 🙂
David found the pendant light on Amazon. I wish I knew what it was called so I could help, but I think he just searched for pendant lighting and went from there!

Looks like a great reno and you can just tell with your words how happy you are about it!! I love a light teal as a pop of colour…but I would pretty much do that wherever haha
Liz @ I Heart Vegetables says
It looks GORGEOUS! I’m super jealous of those vanities… ours has almost no counter space! I’d say this bathroom transformation was worth the wait 😉
Fiona @ Get Fit Fiona says
I love the bathtub. If I was renovating my bathroom I think the hardest part would be picking all the colors for everything.
Laura @FitMamaLove says
It looks beautiful! I love the pedestal tub and the light fixture above it! Love your double shower heads! We can’t have those in CA unless they are both super low output, which wouldn’t be very enjoyable.
Taking longer to finish the project and it being more expensive sounds absolutely normal. Ours was definitely the same way, unfortunately.
My favorite part of our new bathroom is the vanity drawer that has metal containers inside and an electrical outlet so I can put my hair appliances away still hot. I love that I don’t have to leave them out on the counter to cool off anymore!
Also, our concrete countertops are pretty cool. 🙂
Must be so nice to be done!
Brittany Dixon says
Oh I’ve heard great things about concrete counter tops- so cool!!
Cassie says
Looks great! A great shower is very important to me!

Love love love! Well done!

I saw your Periscope of this and I LOVED the idea of putting your shower toiletries in a little hidden alcove. I need to steal that idea one day. We have glass showers in our new place and I hate seeing all of my supplies in plain site. The shower feature of having the temp set is another favorite of mine. I’ll never be able to go back!
The pendant is gorgeous and that tub/shower are what dreams are made of!
Bathrooms are so hard to decorate. Mine is mostly white and beige, so I’ve added a few succulents in some fun pots for the window sill for some color, some fun framed art from Etsy and I like to display things neatly, like glass jars of q-tips and a mug for my makeup brushes. It makes it feel like less of a hotel bath and more home-y.

Wow, that completed renovation is amazing. You have very good taste. What do you think is your favorite purchase for this project? We are half way through our renovation and just bought a backlit mirror, and I am so excited to get it installed. If it’s anything like I’m picturing it in my head, it’s really going to make a big difference at the vanity area.
Tom Shrill says
The bathroom mirror looks really nice with everything else too. You can see the frame really well in the picture where you are showing off your faucet, and it has a really nice texture to it. I had never thought to order a mirror off of the internet before, but this makes me want to try it out for the first time.

This renovation came together very well. The shower gave me some great ideas on my upcoming bathroom remodel. The light fixture above the tub really fits the styling of the room. Thanks for sharing.
Brian says
This bathroom renovation looks awesome! I think the contractor was right with that tub, it fits nicely in the bathroom.
Heather says
That is a really nice shower! I’ve always wanted faucets that you can pull out of the wall, and it’s so convenient that the tile doesn’t show dirt! Thanks for sharing your renovations!
