We fit a lot into this beautiful weekend. Soccer games, card playing with friends, boat time, football watching, running, and baking. Yay, fall!

Friday night was pizza night, of course, which is always fun. The girls watched Halloweentown (it’s so 90s-tastic) and David and I had a back porch date. We were calling it an early night because he had to work Saturday and Hailey had soccer, when we got a call as we were going to sleep around 10:45 that there was an emergency surgery.

David works in the medical device field, so he has to be in the surgeries, which meant he hopped up and headed out the door. His territory is a bit of drive away, and I’m a worrier about nighttime driving, so long story short, I wasn’t able to fall asleep until close to 2:00 AM. I would whine hard about this, because I was basically a zombie trying to get the girls ready for soccer Saturday morning, but between the emergency case and his scheduled case, David never went to sleep that night. So, he wins.

I share this to brag on him a bit of course. First, for his work ethic, and second for his unwillingness to complain. When we got home from the soccer games around 2:00 PM he had football on cheering on Georgia Tech and was game day ready! We had plans with friends to eat food and watch the first GEORGIA game (SEC is back!) of the season and while I assumed we’d be having to cancel, David rallied like a boss and it ended up being such a fun Saturday!

This long-winded story was to bring up the topic of fall food. Football snacks, baked goodies, and cozy dinners. I’m here for them all! I’m looking this year to include some old favorites but also branch out and try a few new recipes. I tried a street corn recipe for Saturday that I hate to admit was not a winner in my book, but it’s not deterring me from loading my Pinterest boards with fun fall foods to try.

On Sunday I tried a new-to-me sourdough loaf recipe from The Clever Carrot. The description was correct- it was quite simple! I cut the dough in half to bake two loaves and they turned out so darn cute. Beyond looking good though, the loaves turned out golden and crusty on the outside and soft and delicious on the inside. It now definitely has me on a sourdough kick (as you’ll see below!).

I created a go-to list for myself so whenever the urge to bake or try a new dinner for a football Saturday arises, I will have the recipes I want to try at the ready. If you’re feeling the fall food vibe and want to do the same, I’m sharing my list below. And if you have a fall staple recipe you love or one you are excited to try, please add it to the comments. I’d love to have some more recommendations!
