I’m so excited to share today’s gift ideas for 4 year old girls! Yes, it may seem super-specific but I’m certain several of the gifts would be great for boys as well. But let’s be honest, all I know is princesses.
But first, a quick peek into yesterday. The girls and I took a trip to Macon GA to meet my best friends’ baby girl. Translation: I got to hold a 13 day old baby girl and ohhhhh my goodness, baby Tyler is sweet.
It’s amazing how quickly you forget how tiny new babies are- swoon. Kristin and I have been best friends since the 7th grade and I’m over the moon that she’s welcomed her baby girl into her life. Now we have one more reason to drink wine together. 😉
The Thanksgiving extravaganza continues today and I once again apologize to my instagram account, which usually largely features food, because it’s a pretty solid flow of family pictures at this point. C’est la vie.
Ok, ok, I’ll get to it- the gift guide! Check it out, as it offers a wide variety of prices and types of gifts, including one of my new favorite subscription services (#6!)
- Cat in the Hat I Can Do That Game – This fun, activity-based game is perfect for busy kids who love to take on challenges and bring the fun antics of Dr. Seuss to life!
- Cardboard Cottage – Full disclosure, we’ve had this in our playroom for over a year. The girls have drawn all over it, it has had to be taped together several times and they still LOVE it. I highly recommend it!
- Bicycle– It doesn’t need much elaboration does it? 4 years old feels like the right time to get Hailey her first real bike and I’m so excited to watch her learn how to ride it!
- Wooden Beads Set with Letters – Spelling words is a current obsession for Hailey right now and I know combining her love for spelling her name and doing crafts will thrill her with this necklace/bracelet making bead set.
- iSpy Books – Simple picture clues and rhyming riddles make these books a lot of fun for preschoolers and keep them entertained for a while!… until they memorize where all the items are- ha. But still, a lot of fun!
- Bookroo – You guys, I’m in love with this service! I know more and more parents are looking for gifts that don’t end up as more stuff piled in the corners of rooms, and that’s why I am a fan of subscription services. Bookroo is a really special subscription service that offers BOOKS, delivered to your kids each month. What an easy way to discover new favorites and build your child’s personal book library collection. This is a great gift idea for grandparents/aunts/uncles to gift, as it’s sure to be appreciated.
- Princess Braid Headband – Should we just go ahead and call it an Elsa braid? Perhaps. Whoever it is, it combines two of Hailey’s favorite things- headbands and dress up. I get that the picture looks silly, but how much fun would this be for little girls playing dress-up?!
- Snow Sled – Easy to carry uphill and provides great value and loads of fun on snow…..some have used on sand dunes too!
- GoldieBlox – I adore the premise behind GoldieBlox: to get girls building. It’s purpose is to use girls’ natural interest in storytelling and verbal skills to inspire a new generation of female engineers by bringing science, engineering, math and technology to life.
- Kiwi Crate – Another great subscription service option! Kiwi Crate delivers crafts and projects monthly to inspire creativity in kids.

I love the cardboard cottage, but we’re pretty limited in space. We have a small play kitchen that takes up some valuable real estate in my daughter’s room. Do you think the cottage is big enough to have the kitchen inside?
Brittany Dixon says
It depends how big the kitchen is. When we play in the cottage together, it can fit the two girls and myself easily, so I think there could be room for a small kitchen! I’d compare measurements just to be certain.

I love number 9 – maybe that’s because I work in a job where men are in the majority. Anyhow, I think it’s such a shame that so many girls grow up with clichées such as “girls aren’t good in math”. There are studies that show that girls do worse in math tests than boys, when they hear “girls are not good in math” before the test as compared to when they don’t hear this type of message.
Great gift idea to give girls self-confidence to excel in math and science!
Brittany Dixon says
I know, I agree I hate that the cliche is girls aren’t as great at math. Oddly enough, I struggle with math but I have some girlfriends that are kick butt engineers and my mom in law was a college level math teacher so I know girls can seriously ROCK some math Hope my girls see that and follow suit 🙂

Thanks for the great ideas. Koala Create is currently having a Black Friday sale and all the items in their shop including single crates are on sale 50% off. I scored boxes for both my 4 yr old niece and 10 yr old niece.
Brittany Dixon says
Oh that’s awesome- thank you so much for sharing!!

Love your vest! Where is it from? As a fellow short person I’m always on the lookout for pieces that won’t swallow my small frame!
Brittany Dixon says
It’s from J. Crew about 2 years ago I think? Maybe last year? Either way I love it- it’s warm but fairly light weight and like you said- it doesn’t swallow us short people up. 🙂

Oh, my son would adore that cardboard cottage! So cute. We’ve got a teepee on our Christmas list this year. He loves tents and forts, and I am hoping the teepee will alleviate having sheets strewn across my family room constantly.

Love all of these ideas and I’d also throw in the mix the great dress up ideas from Melissa and Doug! They have some really cute dress up outfits and my kids love them!
Julia @ Lord Still Loves Me says
Are Skip-Its still a thing? I remember playing with that for HOURS. I was a little bit older than Hailey when I got mine, but I don’t think that necessarily mattered. It kept me active and outside. One of the best toys ever!
Jessica @My Healthy Passion says
WOW! Great ideas for my 4 year old nephew! I am going to get the cat in the hat game and book service! Thanks for great ideas!!!!! 🙂
Tami @ Have My Cake says
I love the cardboard cottage! We currently have a tent that we’ve had for over a year…and I’m considering swapping it out for a cardboard cottage.
Have a great day!

My daughter is 16 so I skipped over the gift ideas. 😉 Just wanted to comment on how great you look! Those boot camp classes are paying dividends! 🙂
Brittany Dixon says
Oh heyyyy thanks Julie!! I can thank Kristin’s mom for using a flattering camera angle that certainly doesn’t hurt, but I sure do appreciate the compliment! 🙂

I want the cardboard cottage for myself!! As the girls get older I recommend any of the “creative” activities. I had a friendship bracelet book, and a hair braiding book. But I know there were lip gloss kits as well.

I like this post, i have a beautiful girlfriend. You can see her in here
Lisa @ This Pilgrim Life says
My daughter is almost 2, so most of these are above her level right now. I am pinning it for later, though! I did want to say that the Cat in the Hat game is a lot of fun! We played it with friends and really enjoyed it.
Kaitlyn says
This is a great gift guide! Thanks for sharing! Are your little ones still loving everything mentioned?
Brittany Dixon says
Oh yes they are! The draw on house, iSPY books, bike and beads are constant household favorites 🙂
