I think I can honestly say that 18 months is my favorite age yet. I’ve enjoyed all the ages and stages, but 18 months takes the cake. Right now Hailey is so interactive, explorative and downright funny. And so in honor of this milestone, I prepared a little ode.
18 months, I love you.
Everyday is something new.
I must use locks now because she loves opening doors.
On warm, sunny days we make games out of yard chores.
She nods her head to say yes and shakes it when she refuses.
She throws her arms behind her to run fast, which led to her first cuts and bruises.
She loves saying and pointing out ears, eyes and noses.
From 7 ‘til 8 and from noon to 2 she dozes.
Tantrums have subsided this month; I think because of better communication.
Her expressions are priceless, whether expressing disapproval, surprise or elation.
Hailey is a careful girl and approaches stairs and slides with caution.
She always waves and blows kisses when she says goodbye and I think it’s pretty awesome.
She went through a daddy phase, which I simultaneously loved and broke my heart.
But for the past week she’s been a momma’s girl, never wanting us to part.
She has a mouth full of teeth and the sharp ones are coming through.
She’s mastered the spoon and is back to being my good eater, too.
Hailey, you light up my life more than you’ll ever understand.
I hope you’ll always talk my ear off, snuggle up and hold my hand.
The facts-
- 31.5 inches tall (75%)
- 22 lbs 12 ounces (25-50%)
- 18 inch head circumference (50%)
- 12 teeth with 3 incisors starting to poke through
- size 4 diapers
- clothes 18-24 months
- favorite words- Koda, fish, dada, milk (kah), cracker, balloon, ball, shoes, roarrrrr (lion), quack quack (duck)
- no haircut yet; not sure if I’ll ever be ready for that
- likes to help me unload the dishwasher and hands me one utensil at a time. It takes forever and I love it.
- Mom’s favorite moment- rocking her before bed last night. She curled up on my lap and I noticed how much she has grown from the tiny infant I used to hold. Now her head rests under my chin, her arms wrapped around mine and her legs curled up beside her still reach down to my legs. I could hug her forever!

She is so cute presently. Am glad you are enjoying her right now 🙂
I am enjoying my almost 6 year old daughter presently. She is so creative, clever arguments which make me and hubby speechless and more 🙂

I love this age too!! Though my daughter is 15 months now. I just love it. So interactive, so busy, so fun.

What a cutie, can’t believe she is already 18 months!
Gcroft says
Ah, how sweet is she? My baby girl is 4 months old and I can’t wait for hugs and cuddles, but at the same time wish I could hold on to this moment forever.
Sonya says
She is just so darn cute! I resist posting that as a comment to all your posts.

A great age!!! Although I have to say 22 months has been pretty awesome for us!

She is just too cute and looks so happy!
Ashley says
Aww, so cute. My little one has been having less tantrums too this month. He’s still in his Daddy phase, though. 🙂
Andie says
it is definitely a fun age… at the same time, drama is starting for us. Andrew is just a month older than Hailey- and now he is starting to show his frustration more.. it’s both funny and annoying at the same time. LOL
Parita @ myinnershakti says
Such a happy baby! Her fun little personality shines through in all of your pictures. 🙂
Erin @ The Grass Skirt says
I cannot believe how big she has gotten, Brittany! It has been way too long since I’ve seen you both.
Avery @ YoungAspirations says
How cute is she?!!! Happy 18 months Hailey! 🙂

SO cute! I love the age Wyatt is at, too. Toddlers are the best!
Sarah @ The Smart Kitchen says
What a sweet tribute, one that you will be happy you have years (or maybe even months…days?) from now! I’m sure Hailey will love it, too. [When she’s not busy opening doors and making messes of course.]

Such a cute, sweet post! She’ll loving having this to look back on when she’s all grown up!! 🙂
Kelly @ Runmarun says
Great post! And I totally agree, this is the best age! I love that L still needs me but can also occupy herself! Her navy blue dress…she looks like a little adult! So sweet! Happy year and a half, Hailey!

18 months was always the turning point with each of my children, they still needed me, but that independence starts growing and they were playing more and less dependent on me for their move. 18 months is a really fun age, enjoy!
lindsay @ fuelmyfamily says
This is such a good age (mine is 19 months!) So independent and able to be my little buddy but still a snuggly baby!
LINDA says
Brittany, it is so great that you have this wonderful blog to document all these special times! I wish I would have had this type of documentation when my kids were little. We remember sporadic things here and there and funny things they said, but there is no way we can remember it all. Hailey is at such a fun age, but all her ages will be fun for you. I write this in every shower card and every baby card that I send: “Enjoy every minute – it goes by too fast!” Love you blog!

Ahh so sweet! I love this post. I love seeing her little personality develop more and more!
Shari says
Oh, how sweet! She is darling.
Papa John says
Yah, right. Next month you’ll say 19 months was your very favorite time. Face it, every day (most every day!) is your “favorite) time as beautiful Hailey evolves – just as her super Mom did.
Maria says
Her pouty face is the most adorable thing I’ve ever seen.
I enjoy babies (toddlers?) more at this age as well because of the interaction and communication. When someone hands me a newborn, I’m like “what do I do with it?” Yeah, I need to get over that.
Brittany says
I think most people feel that way abut newborns (I did!) before you have one of your own 🙂
Liz @ iheartvegetables says
She is so cute!!! I feel like I’ve gotten to watch her grow up, and it’s amazing! 🙂
Molly @ JoggingWithJack.com says
I love this! 3 months has been such a great age with smiles and laughs. Happy to hear some of the good things in our future.
