Every day is different around here so it’s tough to find a typical one for a day in the life post. I can always pretty much guarantee the same morning antics though, compliments of this little peanut.
Today she’s up early so I’m attempting to type as she bounces around me, but yesterday she waited until post blogging to wake up and latch on. She’s in a mommy phase right now and it’s heartwarming and consuming all at once.
PS- if you’re peeking through her arms at my old lady slippers, laugh away. These are the more comfortable and supportive slippers I’ve ever owned.
Breakfast was an over-medium egg on toast with avocado and sriracha- a favorite. Side of leftover green beans too, because I got my weird eating habits from my mom.
By 9:15 we were all up, fed, dressed and taking selfies to prove we all had on real clothes.
It’s a rare occurrence around here as I love my yoga pants and Hailey loves wearing jammies, however it’s been a more regular thing now that StitchFix has nailed my last 2 deliveries! My shorts and top are both from them and are perfect for typical day to day mom living.
We arrived at the library where I envisioned cuddling and reading, but in reality it was petting the statue cat, playing matching Dora games on the computer and chasing around Kaitlyn to keep her from knocking every single book off the shelf.
After the library, our new sitter met us at the house and took over lunch and nap duty while I took off to go pick up Julie for lunch in the city with CVS. I’d been dying to try 5Church and was thrilled that the food lived up to the hype.
My low-light camera skills did not though, so I didn’t do my lamb burger and fries justice. Guess I’ll just have to go back!
I really had a great time chatting it up with Tori from the CVS team, as well as Molly and Katie, among other blogger friends. We left with some goodies which the girls promptly tore into post-nap (or attempted nap/quiet time for Hailey).
It was a beautiful and HOT day, perfect for a little afternoon splashing fun. Since my regular playgroup gals all had sick kiddos, I took the girls to the splash pad for Kaitlyn’s first experience.
They hated it.
We were all a little tired by the time we got home so Hailey traded in her two daily TV tokens for a special evening showing of The Princess and the Frog, which I watched part of with her on the couch before starting dinner (ahem, reheating leftovers) for all of us.
The movie pushed us a little later than the norm. Still, we wrangled the troops for bath time.
Then crashed on the couch ourselves.
I felt like a got a little taste of the summer to come yesterday and I can say with full confidence that it’s going to be a good one.
Bring it.
What are you excited for this summer?
Karen says
Standup paddle boarding…..which could happen this weekend if the weather cooperates.
Brittany Dixon says
How fun!! Have you done it before? I haven’t and it’s on my short list of things I want to try!
Karen says
Yes, I actually own my own SUP board. It was my 40th birthday gift from my husband.
It’s a wonderful core workout and the most relaxing thing I have ever done.
I highly suggest you trying to get this experience crossed off your list….it’s so fun.

Your kids are so incredibly cute! I just love the longer days of summer. It’s so nice when the sun stays out later.
Brittany Dixon says
It is SO nice! Although sometimes I feel silly when I’m ready to go to bed and it’s still light at 9pm 😉
Sherry says
What a fun time and you look great in your new clothes. We have a new tube for the water and paddle boards that we can borrow from a neighbor, so come on down!
Katie says
Love it! Espcially K’s expression at the splash pad, how cute!!!
Natalie @ The Ravenous Mommy says
Seems like a great day! Love the idea of tv tokens 🙂
Christina says
Love the Stitch Fix outfit! Will you share the brand, so I can add it to my Stitch Fix Pinterest board for my next fix?
Brittany Dixon says
Hey Christina! Yes, I’ll get better about posting the brand. The shirt is Amour Vert and it’s so comfortable!
Urban Wife says
Agreed! I’m loving those shorts too. Do you know the brand? Are they a decent length (not short but not “mom” length either)? Sorry…I’m totally being that person. Thanks, Brittany!
Brittany Dixon says
The shorts and American Standard by Dear John. Funny enough I felt the same way- not too short, but not ‘mom’ looking either! 😉 Plus, they are super comfortable!
Urban Wife says
Yay, thank you SO much for letting me know! They look awesome on you.
Brynn says
love the water park pictures. And I’m the same – veggies and breakfast work at all meals. And always sriracha!
Brittany Dixon says
Haha, yes, always sriracha!!
Erin @ Her Heartland Soul says
Such a fun day! You all look so cute in your outfits!!
Julie says
What a great day you girls had! You look great in your Stitchfix outfit. Umm when are we gonna get to see the new bathroom???
Brittany Dixon says
Oh my gosh yes, I’m so ready to be back in our bathroom! Final inspections are TOMORROW and then we are just waiting for mirror frames. I’m so excited! 🙂
Emily @ Perfection Isn't Happy says
What a fun day! It’s tough working in an office in the summertime, but hopefully the weekends will make up for it!
Parita @ myinnershakti says
Life sounds like it’s fun for y’all right now! Busy but fun 🙂
Brittany Dixon says
We really have hit a sweet spot. Busy is right, but loving it. 🙂 And I think I commented but can’t remember- I love your new kitchen!!
