Hello friends and happy start to the week! How was your weekend? I had a great one, as my mom came to spend it with us. Friday we grabbed an early Mexican dinner then cheered Hailey on in her last soccer game of the season. Switching her from club to rec this year was great for all involved; less commitment, less cost, and her confidence in her skills soared.
Saturday Kaitlyn had a game an hour away which I unfortunately had to miss do to a hair appointment I couldn’t switch up. We all met back up though midday to create a cozy atmosphere at home to watch the Georgia/Tennessee game. I was so proud of how my Dawgs played in what was supposed to be a true battle; huge win for us! And college fans, how about that LSU/Bama game- cray.
Sunday morning we sat on the back porch watching the rain fall and talking about Christmas. Doing so, the girls and I were able to talk mom into staying one more day. We filled it in such a fun way. First meal planning and group shopping trip for groceries. Then lunch and CHRISTMAS SHOPPING!
We rarely go shopping for shopping sake, but a local gift boutique was having a holiday open house and it started by going to support them and turned into more stops at Lowe’s for some garland, Homegoods for dog sweaters and Christmas shower curtains (completely unnecessary and I’m completely excited to put it in the kids’ bath anyway), then World Market. At World Market they have a golden gnome search that happens twice a day for golden gnomes worth store credit. The kids convinced us to stay until the next game, so we spent probably two hours at the store, but it paid off, as we found 2 of the 4 gnomes worth $70. It was hilarious to me how much fun the kids had with it all!
Back home we started pulling out Christmas bins, lit my new Tree Farm candle, danced around to Christmas music and welcomed the season with so much JOY that I didn’t even care that haters might say it’s only early November. Find what makes you happy and revel in it!
I made (slightly charred because I was distracted) salmon for dinner while we played Catan (with the expansion pack so all 5 of us could play) and we ended up staying up way later than we should for a newly daylight savings switch up. What a great weekend though! I am honestly just thrilled to be feeling normal again as far as appetite goes. After having the flu for a week, it took another full week to get to this point where I feel like I can cook without feeling nauseated. So with that, here’s a look at my “finally back in the kitchen” meal plan for the week!
November Meal Plan
- Sunday: Lemon Dill Salmon, roasted sweet potatoes, garlic green beans, and sauteed cabbage with red wine vinegar
- Monday: Burger Bowls with Dill Pickle Kraut and roasted broccoli
- Tuesday: Fajita Chicken Fiesta Bowls with Cilantro Lime Rice
- Wednesday: Ultimate Marinated Greek Chicken Wraps
- Thursday: Homemade Pizza Night with bread machine pizza dough
- Friday: TBD- possibly out or if at home, grill steaks
- Breakfast: Smoothies from Max’s Cookbook, eggs, fruit
- Lunch: Grilled cheese and tomato soup with fruit for the kids, and Freekeh and collard green bowls with whatever leftover protein I have for the adults
What was a highlight from your weekend? What’s on your menu this week?!

Aww so sweet your mom stayed an extra day. The girls at world market sound finding the gnomes sounds fun! I say go for all the Christmas decor if it makes you happy! I still wait until after thanksgiving but I can’t wait!!
My favorite day was Friday night because I went to a friends house and the three of us had wine and chatted uninterrupted for hours! So nice when you have littles. The rest of the weekend was not as fun because Britton has a horrible cough and a full on bad cold now. She ended up with a fever yesterday.
