What a Monday morning! My site was down for a while this morning then my computer upgraded itself to windows 10 (noooooo) so I’m just now getting able to get on it. At least I have my workout done and a cup of Earl Gray in my hand. Bring it Monday.
Actually let’s reminisce for a moment first, can we? It was a wild weekend!
Jimmy Buffett came to Charlotte and despite being one of his favorite singers, David had never seen him in concert. I knew we had to change that so we bought two tickets back in December and had been looking forward to it ever since. Now, have you ever been to Buffett? If so, you know the level of tailgating is out of control. We packed a backpack with beer and sandwiches then my sweet friend dropped us off to fend for ourselves.
Not our tailgate, just making friends as we went.
Luckily the weather could not have been more perfect. Sunshine and high 70’s and Buffett are a match made in heaven. We wandered the rows and rows of cars, stopping to chat with new friends and play games along the way.
According to my fitbit, we walked over 17,000 steps, though I’m convinced I actually danced at least half of those steps.
Or limbo’d them.
When in Rome…
There is something about a concert in beautiful weather. Everyone is just so friendly and happy and my goodness, the people watching just doesn’t get any better.
To put it succinctly, we had a ball. And Jimmy himself was wonderful. I can’t even imagine how many times he has had to sing Margaritaville, yet somehow he convinced me it was a new song that he was still thrilled to play- such energy and enthusiasm! Next time I see him play it, it will be in the islands. #bucketlist
After he encored with a rendition of Purple Rain (RIP Prince), we cabbed it home and crashed hard, fitting it what sleep we could before putting back on our mom and dad hats on Sunday. Despite feeling a little foggy, we made Sunday as productive as ever. Somehow I got a bee in my bonnet about organizing and cleaned the fridge and pantry, washed every piece of laundry, vacuumed the car, cleaned the entire downstairs and even food prepped.
Hailey had two of her friends over and all four girls played so well together, allowing me to TCB.
Quinoa, roasted sweet potatoes and boiled eggs.
Nothing extensive, but enough to make me feel prepared for the busy week ahead.
It was such a great weekend of work and play- love when that happens.
Are you a concert person?
What is the best concert you’ve ever been to?
I saw Kenny Chesney at Neyland Stadium- that was pretty cool. I really love all concerts though!

But the best, hands down, was The spice girls!! It was over 20 years ago and I remember it so vividly!

We just saw Ben Harper in Chicago last weekend. He’s our jam. And it was exactly what this mom and dad needed to shake things up a bit. We were exhausted on Sunday – but smiling – from all the fun we had the night before. Made us feel like the cool kids again…
Brittany Dixon says
Yes, exactly how I felt- see babe, we can still hang! I kept saying… until I had to drag myself out of bed on Sunday 😉 I’ll bet Ben Harper was awesome!

My boyfriend and I literally just had an “argument” about when he could wear a Hawaiian shirt (I’m not a fan) and I told him the only acceptable scenario was 1. at a Buffet concert or 2. at Margaritaville itself or 3. if in Key West. Love how much fun you’re having!
Brittany Dixon says
Haha, love it! We actually had to go to three different stores on the morning of to try and find a Hawaiian shirt! Kohl’s was the only one that did 🙂

My fiance and I just went to a 2 day country music fest this past weekend in Frisco! Got to see Eric Church, Blake Shelton, Sam Hunt, Chase Rice, Chris Young, Eli Young Band, Joe Nichols… it was at an outdoor stadium so we got to enjoy the nice weather too!

We are going to see Garth this wknd!!! I’ve wanted to see him my whole life. His concert sold out FAST (despite adding 5!!! more shows), & I didn’t get tix… was SO bummed! One of my friends, who is a VP at a radio station in town, called a few weeks later w/ FREE tix on the FLOOR & a chauffeured party before the concert. I am BEYOND psyched! (in case all the CAPS hadn’t clued you in) 😛

Oh, & my fave concert was Macklemore. I took my daughter a few yrs ago & despite only knowing a few of their songs, the concert was amazing! It was so high-energy! Just great! Love me some Bon Jovi, too. 😉

Wow, that does look like a really fun weekend! Although, I have to admit I had to google Jimmy Buffet… Yeah, those Europeans don’t know anything… 😉
I should totally peel the boiled eggs in advance, too. That would make breakfast preparations even faster!
Have a great week

I was at the Kenny concert in Neyland!!!! So awesome! I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Luke Bryan and have seen him three times. Was so close once that I saw the top of his underwear! I have seen Jimmy Buffett, Tina Turner, and Aerosmith- just to name a few. We were at Carowinds for a choral festival with kid’s school but I would have loved to have been at the concert!
Brittany Dixon says
I love Luke Bryan too! I went to college at UGA and he performed at the Georgia Theater there before he got big. We went and it was awesome. He even was handing out free cds at the door — so cool!

Looks like such a fun weekend and time away from the girls! My favorite concert I’ve been to was with my brother a few years back and we saw Mumford and Sons together. It was a laid-back venue and all in all just great time with him. 🙂

What a great weekend! Sounds like you guys got to let loose and have fun. Well deserved!

This weather puts everybody in such a great mood! And I would LOVE to go to a Buffet concert, even more so now after seeing your pictures. 🙂 Best concert ever for me was when I went to see U2 in Atlanta with my husband when we were dating. We had general admission tickets, and they did this “lottery” where some of the GA tickets were randomly selected to be in the “inner circle”…i.e., inside the stage. We got in! It was SO awesome. The concert was great, but it was so surreal to be making eye contact with Bono, Edge, Larry and Adam. Ill never forget it!

I’ve seen jimmy too…he’s on my top 5. I saw Dave Matthews band before they got huge, at a winery. That was a good one. Recently it was Taylor swift and her shows are really something!
