Good morning! I promise I wasn’t trying to trick anyone into thinking I was in labor, but I slept pretty poorly last night and so posting didn’t happen like usual. Not that I really have much to chat about besides baby girl at this point anyway.
So, let’s chat about being 4 days overdue. I reallllllly thought last night was the night. Yesterday I went to the chiropractor who told me everything felt loose and good to go. Then I managed 3 miles at the gym, which gave me quite a few funny looks. I got in a nap then picked up eggplant parmesan for dinner. We went to sleep at 10 and I woke up at 11:40pm feeling really uncomfortable and crampy. My excitement soared. I managed to fall back asleep, but woke up every 1.5-2 hours from then on feeling the same way. At 3:45am I moved to the couch, ready to witness these cramps turn into the real deal. I started timing my contractions on my phone app then…
I fell asleep.
I woke up this morning feeling a-ok. What a tease!
In all seriousness, I’m still feeling hopeful. I never had any signs like this with Hailey and with a full moon Wednesday night and a storm front likely to move in on Thursday, I’m hoping some of those old wives tales ring true. I’m also picking up a pineapple today because, well, why not. If it doesn’t help, at least it’s delicious!
For a more real update, I just left the doc. I’m about 70% effaced and 2-3cm dilated. Baby girl feels more engaged, too.
Now I’m sitting here getting an oil change for the car. We put in the baby car seat (2 days ago) and I vacuumed my car out yesterday, so now I truly feel like this is the final thing I have left to do.
A little car shop humor…
To be continued…

It’s so hard to go past your due date! I waited until 42 weeks and then finally had to be induced because baby girl was not coming. I had some action the night before I was induced, but nothing came from it. What a tease!
Keeping my fingers crossed for you that she comes soon!

I feel ya mamma! Being overdue is for the birds. I’m waiting on the full moon too!!!! Crossing my fingers these girls have a birthday tomorrow! I’m running out of natural induction techniques! I did the labor salad (I HATE Gorgonzola cheese so this was a serious sacrifice), nipple stimulation, walking, pineapple, etc. etc. And the red raspberry leaf/primrose oil as often as I can. The salad and NS both seemed to bring on STRONG contractions but no more than that 🙁 My midwife actually ok’d castor oil, because she said if you’re pretty overdue castor oil, in her opinion, is still safer than Petocin and increasing chances of c-section!! Just be aware of unfun side effects 😉 I know that one is debated, but I may go that route before facing hospital induction. Not sure yet. Good luck to you!! Hoping there’s a baby in your very near future!

I am clicking on your blog every morning holding my breath- I want to hear that this munchkin has made her entry (and be relieved for her mama!) 🙂
My cousin was overdue last week- and she was desperate (read: she was “done” in her second trimester lol) I promised her my apple pie (her fave) first thing post-delivery…
(Guess who was making pie at midnight last Teusday?!)
Must I head down to NC with pie??? lol Take good care 🙂
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries says
Hang in there, Mama! Thinking of you and hoping baby girl makes her exit ASAP!
Erica says
Lol that sign is perfect! I can’t imagine how anxious you must feel!
jenn says
I think she will come when the front comes thru!
Brittney says
That sounds a lot like what I went through the night/day before I actually went into labor with Allie, so maybe that’s a good sign! I had contractions from 2am-8am and they went away, and then the next night they started and never stopped. Hang in there girl!
Katie @ Pick Any Two says
Thinking of you and hoping baby girl makes her grand appearance very, very soon!
Jenny says
Fingers crossed all these signs will lead to her coming on her own!!
Jaclyn @ BumpSweat says
I’d never heard the pineapple thing. My sister’s husband drank it when they were trying to get pregnant, but what’s the details on helping you go into labor?
Maria says
She’s just being stubborn and for that, I already think she’s pretty cool 😉
Rachel says
Oh man, that must be so frustrating! Makes me happy I had 2 scheduled c-sections bc that waiting would drive me bananas…sending crampy, contraction-y, labor inducing vibes your way! 😀
Amy @ Long Drive Journey says
I keep popping over here expecting to see that you’ve gone into labor! Here’s to hoping that the pineapple works fast and that baby decides to come on out!
jennifer says
SO frustrating! If it happens again tonight, can I suggest, dont sit. Get up, move around do the stairs. With my third every time i sat down labour would stop. It was only when I was up and walking around did it finally pick up.
Danica @ It's Progression says
I’m just praying that you and baby girl stay healthy and that when she does decide to come into the world everything goes well! <3
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl says
I’m feeling good about today for you. Why not on the 13th?? I happen to think 13 is a lucky number, not unlucky.

I’m sending you good labor vibes! I’m 40+1 right now with my first (a boy!) and just dying to go into labor! I totally feel you. I haven’t had any real labor signs yet though, but like you, I’m hoping the full moon kicks it into gear tomorrow. We shall see. Of course my mom was late with all 3 of us kids (3 days, 7 and 11 days) soooo I’m also trying to mentally prepare myself for waiting until next week. But man the wait is so hard! Good luck to you! 🙂 I wish you the best!

Hi Brittany! I wanted to send you a quick note to let you know I’m thinking about you and sending you many positive thoughts for a safe delivery! I found your blog when I was pregnant with my son (now 15 months old) and have been a faithful follower ever since. I’m seven months pregnant with our second son and have so enjoyed following your journey. Good luck to you and your sweet family in these coming days!
Caity (Seattle, WA)
PS: A quick plug for Castor oil – my OB says it’s the only one of the home remedies she has actually seen work. The first time around I was 7 days post-due and 1 day away from induction so figured I had nothing to lose. I drank 2 oz of Castor oil and went into labor 3 hours later. Maybe it was coincidental timing, maybe it wasn’t. 🙂

good luck lady!!!!!

Man, that’s frustrating! I had lots of false alarms with baby #2 and my friend told me she was the same for her second baby for weeks leading up to actually giving birth. It started to make me just a littttle bit crazy. It sounds like your body may be pretty ready though from what you said so you may be luckier. Both times I had almost zero progress before I finally went into labor so it was pretty disappointing after each check. That said, I’ll be curious to hear if labor goes much faster for you this time. With #2 for me, I was in labor for just over 4 hours this time after 13 hours with my older daughter. Crazy! Sending you good thoughts!

Full moon in May 2012 worked for me, I wasn’t overdue though. Baby girl was due on May 9th and arrived nice and promptly on May 7th! I know, you don’t want hear that right now! Lol.
Hope things move naturally for you soon, excited to see your new baby girl.

I love the Due Now!!

I have an encouraging story for you: I was 40 weeks pregnant, not effaced or dilated AT ALL, and baby boy was sitting pretty up high by my rib cage.
A full moon came along and then Hurricane Sandy blew through New England and the very next day my water just broke! So I went from being told I would probably make it to the two weeks past deadline, to basically having a baby on my due date. Hoping the full moon and storm systems work for you too 🙂
Marjorie says
Love the photo! So cute!
Nicole says
I’m so excited for you! I think I’d go nuts being past my due date, so big preggo hugs to you! My first was born the day before her due date and my second has 16 more weeks in the oven to go 🙂
Here’s hoping your next post is a birth (or labor) announcement!
Caleigh says
Thinking of you B!!! I was three days overdue and experienced very similar thoughts that you have just posted…full moon, running, pineapple, lawd I was ready! But Sol came when he was ready—and I’m thankful for his cooking time ;). Saying prayers for you…I know you’re ready!!!

Im waiting every morning to get your announcement that baby girl has arrived!!
My daughter (shes 31 yrs old & has 2 kids of her own) was 2 weeks late!! Back then it wasnt as crazy with inducing after 41 wks!! I was so tired of my mom calling me everyday saying.. well?!! I hated the waiting feeling like life was on hold. I was scheduled for induction the monday after thanksgiving (2 full wks late). I am a nurse & worked in OB at the time.. I did NOT want to be induced. I wanted an unmedicated “natural” birth. I had a good talk with baby & said she would regret it if I had to be induced lol!! Well she got “even” cause I went into labor thanksgiving night !! I went from 2 cm at admission to birth about 4 hours later… no epidural !! After watching my daughter give birth to both of her daughters WITH epidurals both times (with crazy short labors!) I was jealous as she made it look so easy !!! lol
On the other hand my son (26 yrs old) was almost 8 weeks premature!!
I do believe in the full moon !! Always seemed to have more deliveries then!!
Good luck !! Wishing you a fast easy delivery & both of you stay healthy !!!
Cant wait to see pics!!

Holding my breath for you!! She’ll be here soon enough 🙂

Hey Mama! I haven’t read through the comments to see what everyone else is saying but I had my #2 at 41 weeks and I did everything I read about to help it along from about 39 weeks (when #1 was born) I think I ate 7 pineapples. The chiropractor is awesome-I would go everyday at the end. I swear that’s what helped me have a speedy delivery (5-10 cms in 45 minutes) Has your dr talked about separating the membranes? I did that twice, the day before and the day of. That’s probably what pushed me into labor but I was having all kinds of signs and contractions leading up to that. Good luck!!
Mrs FF says
That sign is just PERFECT!!! Says it all.
It must be exciting and also daunting to be over-due! Guess your babies get too cosy in mom’s belly.
Sophie says
Oh my, I can’t even imagine going past the due date, good luck!
