I’m still pregnant friends. But let’s not focus on the three days overdue thing. Instead, do you mind if I ramble on about the weekend and share way too many pictures? Super…
Saturday we took a trip to our friend Jeff’s farm. It’s about 45 minutes away, so we don’t make it there often, but it’s always a treat when we do.
He farms for the joy of it and it shows. He has goats, pigs, cows, chickens, turkeys, ducks and more. It’s great to see these animals live such happy lives on the land, just like they were meant to.
It still makes me cringe when he points to a certain cow and says, oh, that one isn’t friendly and will be hamburger by spring, but you know, that’s the reality of where my steak comes from and I’m happy knowing the cow leads a happy life out in the field, not in a feed lot.
And my eggs I’m so obsessed with? Here is where they come from…
it really makes me want chickens. Hailey was so excited to collect her own two eggs, straight from the chicken, to bring home.
She stored them in her play kitchen and was so excited to help scramble them the next morning.
And that, my sweet girl, is the circle of life.
I was pretty pumped to score a kombucha SCOBY and kefir grains and we wasted no time getting to work on brewing.
More on that another day.
I actually thought I might be going into labor Saturday night. I had timeable contractions every 5-10 minutes, but they were inconsistent and weren’t painful. Sure enough, I woke up Sunday feeling fine. Figuring labor was imminent (obviously, my motherly instinct strikes again), I was excited to spend the time I had remaining soaking up family time, and that’s just what my Mother’s Day consisted of.
We spent the morning reading books, dancing around to Disney music as a family and playing with the cameras.
We took a trip to the farmers market and stopped to smell the flowers.
I promise that we sometimes brush her hair.
I fit in some book reading (the Omnivore’s Dilemma – love me some Michael Pollan!), a nap and a solo trip to Healthy Home Market, too. I organized some food photos from last week…
beer can chicken and grilled veggies
And a mixed up pizza order from Papa Murphy’s. I ordered a large veggie and they gave me a stuffed pizza. I’ll admit, it was delicious mistake!
We went on a family walk and soaked up the afternoon sun on the swing. I snuggled and read to Hailey after shower, which is usually David’s thing. There’s nothing quite as sweet as a sleepy, freshly scrubbed toddler curled up beside you making all the noises to the Bear Hunt book. Swishy swashy.
Today I have another chiropractor appointment and am considering going for a run (ahem, attempting to speed waddle). And the wait continues…

I was just thinking about you and wondering if baby was here. But I can see she is taking her pretty time. The day is still very young anyway, so she might just make an appearance before the day is over

I was thinking about you all weekend and I have a feeling Tuesday afternoon for the little girl to arrive…:) PS. I LOVE the pictures of you and Hailey…adorable!!
Brittany Dixon says
Tuesday afternoon sounds like a lovely time to be born! Hopefully that would mean a full night’s sleep tonight, then labor first thing in the morning. Ah, yes, I like that plan 😉

I kept checking in on Instagram Twitter and no baby yet she will be here before you know it my daughters 9th birthday is Saturday great day to have a baby but I’m sure you don’t want to wait that long!:-)
Brittany Dixon says
I wouldn’t want to wait that long and steal your daughter’s day! I’ll tell her to come before then! 😉

What a great Mother’s Day weekend!!! I can’t wait to hear the news of your sweet little girl’s arrival. If you don’t mind sharing, I’m curious how you will handle Hailey when the baby arrives? Do you have family in town with you right now, so when you go into labor she’s taken care of? Similar to you, we don’t have any family within a few hours’ drive of us, so I’m just thinking ahead to how we might handle it in the future!
Brittany Dixon says
Both sets of grandparents are on call and about 4 hours away. The plan is to call as soon as I’m in labor. If things are speedy, I’m grateful to have a few great friends and neighbors that have volunteered to be called day or night to help with Hailey. I’m interested to see how it all works outs!

My co-worker has a small farm, and I love getting fresh eggs. Her goats just had babies so she’ll have goats milk soon too.
So, I’m just throwing this out there. I’m sure you’ve tried everything under the sun and are probably SO sick of thinking and worrying about when it will happen, so ignore me if you want. Anyways, on the suggestion of my doctor friend, I tried nipple stimulation. I did it for about a half hour one morning after my due date and it gave me regular, strong contractions right away. They lasted for several hours and then slowed down so I did N.S. again to bring them back. I did them again that night and by the next day, I was in early labor and went to the hospital the next morning to have my baby. Sending good labor vibes your way!

Yey for doing such wonderful activities while waiting on baby girl!! I’m still with you in the 40 week 3 day waiting game but we were so fortunate to have beautiful weather up in here in north shore MA and took full advantage of it. Am thinking of you and wishing you all the best no matter when or how labor happens.
Thank you for sharing all your thoughts and reasonings behind your decisions for when to schedule an induction. So nice to get a momma’s perspective who’s been through it and certainly is currently going through it. Right now our plan is to go to our 41 week appt on Thursday and then schedule an induction for sometime early the next week (exact date dependent on when my OB or my second favorite OB is working…)
Best wishes! 😀

I’ve been thinking about you! You’ll go into labor soon… just relax and enjoy the last fleeting moments of your family of 3.

How cool you guys went to the farm! I wish I knew someone who had farm fresh eggs. I always tell my mom she should get chickens! I would but I don’t have the room for them, yet.

I was thinking of you this weekend! Sounds like the perfect combination of activities to keep you distracted from the wait and soaking up the final days as a mom of one.
Jaclyn @ BumpSweat says
I grew up on a farm and am right with you on the chickens thing. I want a coop so badly, and we could technically have one in our neighborhood, but our yard’s WAY too small for that. Plus, my husband strongly dislikes the idea right now. I’m working on him; maybe one day we’ll have enough land… and kids eager to help 🙂

Oh I feel for you being overdue. My son was two weeks late! I know, that’s a long time to let me go. There was no mistaken on his due date either so he was a true two weeks late. Hoping your little one comes soon!
Sarah@creatingbettertomorrow says
My biggest fear with twins is them coming early – so I can’t imagine having to wait longer than expected for your miracle to arrive! I pray for healthy happy mom and baby WHENEVER that may be…I love the ‘smell the flowers’ picture – too precious! Fun weekend and active for someone at 40 + weeks pregnant – good job!
