It’s incredible to me how many options are available to assist in meal planning nowadays. Since meal planning is my love language (I haven’t read the book, but I’m pretty sure that’s a thing), I am always on the lookout for shortcuts to getting healthy meals on the table for my family.
I was recently introduced to a service that not only streamlines meal planning, but grocery list making and shopping as well. It’s called Myxx and I was excited to try it out!
Myxx (pronounces MIX) is a free, quick, and easy way to meal plan and grocery shop. It’s simple to sign up for and connects you to your local participating grocer. Through the site you are able to browse and search recipes (including a filter option for recipes including items on sale that week!), then see the product breakdown, including prices, and add only what you need to your virtual cart.
I absolutely loved that you can see real, accurate prices of items and are able to easily switch them out based on your preferences. For example, I was quickly able to swap for a larger bottle of olive oil and opt for organic diced tomatoes. Then you only add what you need to your list. It’s ridiculously easy.
Though I usually prefer picking out my own groceries (what can I say, I love wandering a good grocery aisle), the week was a little hectic so I opted for the curbside pick up option.
My my, I see why people do this on the regular. After a busy Saturday full of soccer and birthday parties, we arrived home with all the groceries we needed for the week. It was niiiiice!
Myxx streamlines the whole meal planning process. I enjoyed searching through the recipe options and really appreciated being able to add some variety to our weekly menu. I reveled in the ability to do my grocery shopping at 5:30 AM or 9:00 PM in the comfort of my house slippers. A quick click of the send button and my groceries were ready and waiting when I needed them. The only thing missing was the person to unload them at home… just kidding, David was there. 😉
My best part of the experience though was eating new-to-us recipes. The meal choices on Myxx come from a variety of sources and offer everything from comfort food to clean eats. The hash brown quiche (above) was a huge hit and we ate it for breakfast all week long. I also opted to try the zucchini “meatballs” from SkinnyTaste, which were a fun switch up for the kids!
Perhaps the fan (family?) favorite meal though was the White Chicken Chili. I loved it because I just had to throw all the ingredients in a slow cooker an hit go. The family loved the taste, even David who originally scoffed at the word chili being used for anything other than his famous chili. We’ll definitely be making it again.
Myxx is a great option for busy families that want to eat delicious dinners, but need variety at their finger tips and the convenience of a quick add-to-list feature and curbside pickup. It is definitely something I’ll keep in mind for the crazy weeks!
What is the best tip or trick you keep in your meal planning arsenal?
Do you prefer going to the store or using grocery pick-up?
The pick-up and delivery feature sure seems to be all the rage right now and I see why!

I’ll definitely have to check that out! As much as I enjoy going to the grocery store, sometimes there just isn’t time! And I’m finally getting better at meal planning so this would be great!

It was pretty cool and they keep adding new recipes each week! If you try it out, let me know what you think!

Rats, Myxx doesn’t have anything near us. We have used eMeals for years, but we have to pay for it monthly. However, I have to say, it is worth every cent! We don’t get stuck eating the same things over and over again (and the disagreements about what to eat in general). They have added the option to directly upload the shopping list to Instacart, Wal-Mart pickup, or Kroger ClickList. I won’t do Wal-Mart pickup again, but did Kroger ClickList for the first time last weekend and it was great!! Much better than having to do grocery shopping with two kids in tow!
Brittany Dixon says
Oh I’m curious why you won’t use Walmart again- bad experience?
Beth says
It was terrible, but the produce turned me off enough that I would only use them for pantry items. Also, they were SLOW. Kroger actually has people picking the produce for you from what is out in the store. I think Wal-Mart has a pile of stuff in the back and the quality of it was not good.

I use grocery pick up every week. If I forget & don’t do this, I’m so annoyed with myself and now hate the grocery store. Grocery delivery service & pick up makes my life so much easier! These 3 kids are all I can handle 🙂 I’ve never heard of this one!
Brittany Dixon says
I can see why so many people love it! No wrangling kids or pushing the giant kid carts that I always get suckered into 😉

I just send my personal shopper… 😉 …my husband shops at the bulk store near us early every Saturday morning. We used to shop together but after we had our first baby, he took over the chore and two years later here we are! I go to other stores (Trader Joes, Whole Foods, or Super Target) maybe once a month to get things we can’t find at the bulk store, or just don’t want in bulk. We find it’s most economical to not cook “recipes” so I’m not sure how this would work for us. Usually my husband just picks out whatever meat and veggies look best and we stir fry or roast them. I do like to try at least one recipe per week though to mix things up and so my toddler gets new tastes! We order big bags of brown rice from Amazon. They have good prices on some stuff and if you already have prime shipping it comes really fast. I’m hoping with the Amazon/Whole Foods merger, Amazon will start selling the 365 Organics brand! I love their pasta, flours, pancake mix, canned items, etc and wish I could just get them all delivered to my door!
Brittany Dixon says
Oh is there any rumor of Amazon starting to sell them? That’d be awesome!

That’s a great idea 🙂 I would love to have planner of this sort to be honest 😛 Thanks for sharing it with us.
