Meal delivery services are all the rage right now. And I totally get it– new meals to try, the ability to pick your dietary specifics, the convenience. I’ve tried several meal plan services and while many are similar, creating tasty meals, they usually require a decent amount of prep work and 45 minutes of cooking time. When I’m in the mood to take some time learning a new cooking technique, it’s awesome. But for busy day to day life it doesn’t always fit into my schedule.
This is why 80Fresh (post sponsor!) is unique. In fact, I feel that it is more of a blend between personal chef, personal nutritionist, and meal delivery service.
I love the convenience of having fresh food delivered to my doorstep as much as the organization nerd in me loves looking at the healthy meals lined up so nicely in my fridge.
Now let me share with you why 80Fresh is so helpful to so many:
It is the program for the single woman who works her tail off during the day and wants to come home to a wholesome, high-quality meal that wasn’t previously frozen or full of preservatives. (I’m talking to myself circa 2006 when Lean Cuisines ruled my life)
It’s the plan for busy couples that just want to eat real food for dinner and don’t have the time to prep veggies for an hour beforehand.
It’s the service for the mom whose husband travels or works long hours and can’t quite bring herself to cook a full healthy meal for just herself after an exhausting day, but still wants a delicious dinner that will help her reach her health goals.
In fact, when David had a few evening work commitments two weeks ago, 80Fresh was able to provide a quick healthy dinner after staying too late at the playground. I had ordered two of each meal, which fed both the girls and me.
Shrimp and Cauliflower Grits
Since the prep work is done for you, all meals take less than 15 minutes to get on the table. The direction card outlines the simple steps to take to pull the meal together as well as break down all the nutritional info.
This is incredibly helpful to those counting calories or macros, as real food often doesn’t have this kind of information so readily available.

Ginger Marinated Pork with Sesame Snap Peas and Rice
80Fresh sources locally as much as possible and all the meats used are hormone and antibiotic free. Their weekly menu changes each week but their most popular meals stay in heavy rotation. I love the option to choose meals based on dietary preference (gluten-free, vegetarian, paleo, etc). Even though I don’t eat exclusively paleo, I much prefer the unique carb choices like the shrimp and cauliflower grits (which were delicious!).
Portion-wise, the meals were ideal for my lunch or dinner. And the taste? Incredibly fresh and flavorful!
Thai Sweet Chili Mahi with Baby Bok Choy and Coconut Rice
My goal for the meals I eat is that they leave me feeling satisfied but not weighed down. The fresh food in 80Fresh’s meals do just that and are seasoned so well. I didn’t even want to add Chalupa to any of them, which is saying a lot for me.
It’s the time of year when we are all trying to focus a bit more on our health. To reach those goals, I’m a huge advocate of meal planning and prep, and will be filling in the gaps with 80Fresh. I’m so excited for you to try them too!
You can check out their weekly menu and use the code SLICE30 for 30% (!) off your first order.
psss… They have an awesome starter package that includes SIX meals at a discounted price, plus you can use the discount code to save 30% more. It’s a pretty sweet deal!

what is one of your best tips for staying healthy during hectic weeks?

This has nothing to do with food but have you heard of the Parenting Junkie? I just found her YouTube channel and I can’t stop watching it. I feel like her ideas really mesh well with how you are trying to raise your girls, so I wanted to pass it on!

p.s. I realize this totally sounds like a fishing comment, ha!

Hi Heather! 🙂 I haven’t heard of her but will check it out, thank you! Though youtube is a slippery slope for me. I try to stay away because I go to watch one video and then realize I’ve been watching videos for 45 minutes- ha!

The meals look delicious and I really like how quickly they can be put on the table. Bet this would be a good gift to new parents–or old ones 😉
Brittany Dixon says
Oh that’s a great idea for new moms! Good thinking!

Did you feel that the serving size was large enough? I’m now gluten free, so Blue Apron is not as attractive for me now. This seems like it could be a good alternative.
Brittany Dixon says
For me, the pork dish and the salmon were perfectly sized and very satisfying for dinner. The shrimp and cauliflower grits was delicious, but for dinner I would probably add in a side salad or something. I ate it for lunch and it was perfect. For David, I would add in some roasted potatoes or bread to make it a more filling meal. They have all the calories listed on their weekly meal plan so you could choose the one that fit yours needs the most.

I’ll have to look into this. I love Blue Apron for those occasional meals when I’m low on ideas, but they often take so much time to prep and make. We struggle during those hectic weeks when it comes to eating healthy – something I’d like to change this year.

Looks and sounds great. How long is your 30% off good for? I am getting ready to leave town and would like to try it when I get back.

I have to look into this for the first few weeks after baby is born…I know cooking will be the last thing on our minds!

Oh man, that ginger marinated pork looks incredible!!

Hi there. Sorry not related, but just wanted to let you know I tried your “Mom’s Spaghetti Sauce” last night and it was wonderful…eating the leftovers for lunch and still great! My kids who always just want ‘plain pasta’ tried it too and actually liked it! So that’s a win. Thanks for the recipe, will be adding it to our weekly mix. 🙂
Brittany Dixon says
AH, thank you for sharing that with me!! I’m so glad you like it, as it is one of our favorites too. I sometimes even eat the leftovers cold- ha. I really appreciate the feedback!

The meals look good, but I don’t think I could get my husband on board with the prices or the portion sizes! I’m curious, have you ever tried grocery delivery from Whole Foods or Harris Teeter? If you have, what did you think of it? Thanks!
Brittany Dixon says
I haven’t tried the grocery delivery yet! All our stores just got instacart, but I’m slow to relinquish control over exactly which apple I come home with. Grocery shopping is my jam, but I see the convenience. I’ll definitely give it a try at some point!
