It’s safe to say that we are Disney princess fans around here. Last year we visited Disney World at Halloween to twirl with Belle and hit up the Bippity Boppity Boutique. And there was that time that Ariel came to our house, too. We have a wide array of dress up dresses and have watched our favorite movies more than once. So when When Kaitlyn turned 6, we gave her The Disney Princess Cookbook.
Both girls enjoy helping in the kitchen and I wanted to encourage that with a cookbook that would build her confidence and speak to their interests. Knowing Kaitlyn was a princess fan, I took a chance with the Disney Princess Cookbook and over the past five months it’s proven itself to be a huge hit, not only with Kaitlyn (six years old), but also with Hailey (nine years old).
The Disney Princess Cookbook includes 50 recipes, each themed to a particular Disney character. The princesses are all present of course, with recipes like Tiana’s Hoppin’ John and Ariel’s Sea Turtle Cupcakes, but there are other Disney favorites included as well, with recipes like Aladdin’s Magic Lamp Curry and Gus’ Mac ‘n Cheese. The recipe categories include breakfast, lunch, dinner, sides, snacks, beverages, and sweets.
I share this cookbook a lot on Instagram because it’s the girls’ go-to cookbook when I let them loose in the kitchen. Here’s why:
- Kid-friendly recipes accompanied by pictures and colorful illustrations. It’s fun to look at!
- Simple enough to be fully executed by kids; but also tasty enough that you could serve these to adults without an eyebrow raise. My girls cook things from this book without a single bit of my help, unless you count me hanging around to supervise the stove.
- Easy to follow step-by-step instructions and simple ingredients.
- It has done wonders to build their confidence in the kitchen! They love knowing there are recipes they can make completely on their own.
While clearly this cookbook is geared towards girls, a boy would love this as well. It would make a great birthday or Christmas gift that would get use all year long. If you’re just introducing Disney movies, or if you’re Disney movie aficionados, this cookbook offers a fun way to pair yummy dishes with family movie nights. Enjoying Rapunzel’s Braided Biscuits while watching her adventures with Flynn or chowing down on Abu’s Monkey Bread while watching the new Aladdin is sure to make a memorable movie experience!
I hope this Disney Princess Cookbook review was helpful and if you have any questions, leave them in the comments and I’ll be sure to answer them! Happy cooking!

I added to my amazon cart – at $12.29 today thatβs an affordable price. I like the pictures so you know what the recipe *should* look like. I have a soon to be 6 year old and will add this for birthday. Thanks, a fun find in the absence of traveling to Disney this year!
