I wasn’t sure I even wanted to look at December’s grocery spending. Between hosting a party and hosting family Christmas, I knew it would be a doozie. But I wasn’t about to let my commitment to track for a year end here, so here we are. These are December’s grocery totals by store-
Publix | $183.51 |
Lowe’s Foods | $60.15 |
Costco | $805.06 |
Food Lion | $109.19 |
Whole Foods | $345.09 |
Aldi | $112.18 |
TOTAL | $1,615.18 |
You’re welcome, Costco.
That feels like a lot to spend of food and drink, but I’m not surprised, as Christmas is a time when we really go all out with food. Not necessarily in extravagance, but certainly with plentiful. I feel fortunate that we are in a place to be able to do that. I also got a question about the cost of hosting family for Christmas. While I’d happily spend whatever to feed us if it means we can be together, my mom is very generous and gifts me a check to go towards all the food. Thank you, again, Mama.
I want to pull together a cumulative look at my grocery spending for the year since I tracked all 12 months (all breakdowns, here). I’ll share that in the next week or two! I’m not sure if I’ll track monthly for next year on the blog or not yet. It held me accountable, but not sure if it’s something anyone else really cares to see or not. Thank you for joining me through this tracking adventure though; it’s been a useful practice for me to more closely observe where our grocery money goes and how best to stretch it. But more on that in the year wrap up!

I’m also voting on keeping the grocery posts this year! It’s nice to know I’m not the only one who loves Costco!
