Three months ago I joined Beautycounter. I did it because I wanted to switch my skin care and make up products to more natural choices and they were running a special to join for $20 to get the discounted pricing. Since then I’ve bought multiple products to try and am really pleased with them for the most part!
I’m not a queen of green living by any definition, but have found that slow changes over time do work for me. Two years ago I focused on our water (we added a whole house filtration system and bought a Berkey for our drinking water). Last year I focused on cleaning products, and now use Branch Basics for the majority of my household cleaning. This year is about cleaner skincare and I’m excited at how Beautycounter makes that a pretty easy and attainable goal.
I’m not a “go all in person” with these types of changes. Instead, I slowly switch over to products as I run out of my old products. Over the past three months, I’ve had a chance to switch over a few of my most used products and these are my honest reviews of the products I’ve tried thus far!
These are affiliate links, which means if you order through them, I’ll be your rep (smiles and awkwardly waves). I don’t know the answers to all the questions, but if you have questions, I have the resources available to to get you the answers you’re after. Ok, let’s go!
Countermatch Refresh Foaming Cleanser This comes out as a thick cream and gets somewhat foamy for me, but I do feel like it helps get my face to that super clean feeling and gets off a majority of my eye makeup, too. I like that it leaves my skin feeling fresh and not tight.
Counter+ All Bright Vitamin C Serum I was super excited about this product because I heard people rave about it, but after a month of use I still didn’t really feel like my skin looked brighter. However, after asking about that on Instagram, I quickly learned that the main role of vitamin C serum is to nourish your skin and prevent future damage, like a vitamin for your face. So I’m sticking with it.
Countersun Daily Sheer Defense for Face I like that this is a physical block (using zinc) and as with any natural physical block, it feels slightly sticky when I first apply it. However, that goes away after about two minutes.
Counter+ Charcoal Facial Mask I love this stuff. Once a week (usually Sunday evenings) I use this mask and I love how it pulls impurities out of my skin (it’s visible!) and leaves my face feeling so, so soft. Highly recommend.
Counter+ Overnight Resurfacing Peel Huge fan of this stuff! I have noticed a visible difference in my skin since adding this into my nightly routine (after washing, before moisturizer and eye cream). My skin looks brighter and more nourished.
Countertime Tetrapeptide Supreme Cream Another big winner in my book, especially in the cold months. It’s thick and luxurious and adds a ton of moisture to my skin.
Countertime Ultra Renewal Eye Cream I know we are all supposed to wear eye cream (especially if we are in the generation that wore goucho pants) but it drives me crazy that I never see any big differences with using eye cream. However, I like the way it feels just fine and will continue to use it because “they” tell me I should.
Lip Conditioner in Peppermint I really like the smell of this stuff. It works well and the girls like it too, so I keep it with me at all times because winter weather is sucking the life out of our lips.
Sheer Genius Conditioning Lipstick (in Rosewood) I don’t wear a lot of lipstick, but really liked the shade of rosewood. It goes on really smoothly and feels moisturizing. Plus I love the that the top is magnetic; it makes it fun to close. Ha. I like how it looks and feels on that one day a month that I wear it!
Any questions?
Share with me- have you tried Beautycounter? Which products? Which ones do you love that I need to try?

I’ve tried a bunch of Beautycounter products over the past 6 months (my BFF is a rep!) I definitely prefer the skincare to the makeup. The only makeup products I love are the lip jellies and lip sticks. The mascara, brow gel and skin twin foundation were super disappointing and a waste of money (in my opinion!) I do love (love!) the Vitamin C serum amd charcoal mask! The resurfacing peel makes my skin super soft, but I don’t notice a huge difference in my skin’s appearance 🤷🏻♀️ Also, my kids tell me I smell like ear wax when I use it 😂😂😂

I recently switched to more natural beauty products, too! The first big one was deodorant! I had tried Native in the past during my pregnancy and I’m not sure if it was the heat of that summer or the hormones, but it was awful! I ruined some shirts and went back to my trusty Dove. I decided to give it a try again recently and went for Primally Pure’s Charcoal Deodorant. It’s amazing! Fantastic scent (and I usually hate all scented products), works just as well, if not better than my Dove and I’m a believer. To “detox” the old deodorant, I actually used Beauty Counter’s Charcoal soap. I used it to clean under my arms and I think it made the process a lot smoother. As of right now that’s the only BC product that I use. I’ve tried their skincare in the past and didn’t see any transformations and one of them gave me an awful burning rash. I do like the body wash and facial cleanser, but I found substitutions for those that are a bit cheaper and have clean ingredients too. I do really appreciate your honest review as most consultants told me their products would be life changing and for the price, I just didn’t see it happen to me. I am sure it works great for some, though.
What I have found that works for me is Biossance; natural products (great ratings on EWG), really fantastic sales, easier to get free shipping than BC, and tons of free samples/cheap trial sets! Best of all: my skin has transformed! I do not look as exhausted as I am truly am while raising a toddler/preschooler who doesn’t sleep well during a pandemic. So this stuff has been put to the ultimate test! The eye gel cream DOES reduce puffiness and dark circles and all of the other products have made my skin glow. It’s the best! If you ever want to switch things out, I’d give it a try!

Ok, I’m intrigued by the eye gel… I’ll have to look into it- thanks! And I love Primally Pure’s deodorant too- that’s what I use!

I too use Primally Pure’s deodorant and also their body bar for face wash since it’s made pretty much out of just goat’s milk. I have horribly sensitive skin and when I tried BC, I also broke out in horrible rashes. I was very thankful though they stand behind everything and gave me a full refund.

So glad for your honest views….I also have tried the Vit C serum ( because of the incredible reviews) but have not noticed a difference at all! I thought maybe it was just me! Lol
But i do love their foaming cleanser and overnight resurfacing peel. I will have to try the charcoal mask:)
Thanks for sharing !

I love that peel, too! It’s funny because someone else told me that the vit C has been the biggest game changer for them. I guess just different skin types?

The only Beautycounter product I am fan of is the Tint Skin makeup. I do not wear much makeup but on days I want it this is great for lighter coverage. I will say adding Vitamin C to your routine should reduce dark spots and help give your skin a glow- but not all are created equal. Both the Maelove Vitamin C serum and the Naturium Vitamin C serum helped my skin the most! And I also have found that natural oil blends are the biggest game changer in my skincare routine as far as glowy skin (Current favorites are Living Libations Best Skin Ever Seabuckthorn and Zum nourishing face oil, I use after my moisturizer or instead of my moisturizer depending on my skin that day). The other big change in my skin has come from not wearing much face makeup for a year now. The pandemic and working from home has allowed me to let my skin breathe and focus on skin care not makeup.

I love the vitamin c, overnight resurfacing, cleansing balm, and dew skin. The lip glosses and lip sheers are great, too. For the rest of the products, I like other brands better. The cleansing balm is so expensive but makes my skin feel amazing. I’ve been using it for over 5 years!
