Oh man, what a weekend! Or I should really just say what a 36 hours. One of my very good friends from middle school and high school is marrying David’s best friend next month. Stacy and Jay actually met at our high school reunion and BAM. Love and marriage. I’m so excited for these two and so honored that both David and I are included in the wedding.
When both bachelor/bachelorette celebrations were set for the same weekend, mom and dad happily agreed to come hang out with the girls. I am so grateful for their help. I knew the girls were in great hands so besides the fact that I was worried if I had left enough milk (note to self, ALWAYS CHECK THE FREEZER STASH AT LEAST A WEEK BEFORE LEAVING TOWN), I left Saturday morning feeling excited.
Can I just tell you how my perspective on flights has changed since becoming a mom? Waiting for a flight? No problem. A bathroom stall all to myself? What a luxury. Quiet time for, gasp, reading? Amazing!
I arrived in Nashville and a friend of Stacy’s, Erin, who I had never met picked me up at the airport. So sweet of her! We jetted to the Doubletree Hotel Downtown (great location BTW), met up with all the girls and headed to lunch at Back Alley Diner.
I was looking for something substantial to prep me for the libations to come and opted for the grilled buffalo chicken wrap and fries.
Back at the hotel, Jay’s sister surprised Stacy with an adorable tray of champagne and desserts.
So thoughtful! With the pop of a champagne cork, the celebration began.
A toast, fun question games and present opening had us laughing, crying and really enjoying being together.
At 5:00 we had to rush Stacy along to get her ready and out the door for a big surprise…
A limo!
The limo was a huge hit. Our driver, Michael, was wonderful. We brought out own champagne, jammed out to our own tunes (Erin was a great DJ!) and drove around Nashville taking pictures.
To say it was a blast would be selling it short. It was ridiculously fun!
Eventually we made it to dinner at a great spot called Pub 5.
I was so nervous picking a restaurant, but really lucked out with this choice. The atmosphere was rustic and relaxed and the food was delicious!
Toni and I split the seafood pasta, though I could have easily licked the plate clean myself.
From there, the party continued to the honkytonks. We danced, we celebrated, we got a little crazy. My view for the rest of the night looked a little like this:
But man oh man is Nashville a fun town. I loved the street performers who worked Stacy’s name into the songs.
I excitedly grabbed this hot dog on the way back to the hotel at a chilly 2:30am (I’d guess?). Old habits die hard.
Unfortunately all that fun caught up with me and Sunday I felt rough, to put it lightly. Mama can’t hang like she used to. A combo of drinks and 3 hours of sleep didn’t bring out my shiniest side but I can say the rough day of travel home was worth it. Plus, I was so excited to see my girls and nurse Kaitlyn again (pumping just doesn’t work very well for me for long term). And I’d be amiss not to give one more special shout out to my mom. She had all sorts of fun and playtime with the girls while keeping them fed, bathed and happy- I’m so grateful for her!
Like I said, whew- what a weekend. What a great celebration of an awesome girl. Jay, you are one lucky man!
Now back to the grind… and the grocery store!
Where was your bachelorette party?
Mine was actually in Nashville too!
If you could choose anywhere to have a girls weekend away, where would it be?

That looks like a great 36 hours! My bachelorette party was in Miami and it was the crazy few days. And I feel you about not being able to hang like I used to. It takes me at least 3 days to recover from a weekend like this!

Sounds like such a fun weekend! My bachelorette party was in Charlottesville! We had a great time going to wineries and going to cute restaurants in their downtown area.

LOL…I had the same thought when I traveled for work! Flight delays? YESSSS => Uninterrupted reading time. Bathroom to myself? Awesome. 🙂
I love, LOVE Nashville. I’ve been to a bachelorette party there, and it was so much fun. My husband and I also went a few years ago to go to a U2 concert and stayed downtown. They have some fantastic restaurants, and the honky tonks are fun too. And Franklin, TN is really fun too. It is 30 minutes or so away from downtown Nashville, but it is SO cute with tons of local shops and restaurants, plus old historic homes.

Glad it was such a fun getaway and that you were able to rise to the occasion (at least for 36 hours)!

How fun! If money were no object I’d bring my friends to the resort in Mazatlan Mexico we have a timeshare at. Two happy hours each day, guacamole, fresh shrimp, pretty much heaven.

This brings back middle school memories for me! Childhood friendships are strong! Looks like you guys had a great time : ) My bachelorette party was in HHI with Abby & friends & my 2 girl cousins. I ended up sick on day 1 with a cold : / but we still had fun!

This looks like the perfect girls weekend! Nashville is such a great city! My best friend is getting married next year, and I’m already super excited to help throw her a bachelorette party!

I’m obsessed with the show Nashville now and looking at those photos makes me want to go there. We went to a drag show in SD, California for my party and we were hurting the next day. Being a mom certainly changes things.

I was feeling totally jealous until I read how you felt in the morning, lol. I can’t remember the last time I felt that way, between being pregnant and now breastfeeding, and I don’t miss it!
Hmmm, if I could go anywhere for a girls’ weekend…Savannah would be great, I love it there!

Looks like a fun weekend! It’s so wonderful to get time away from the kids! One time when I was by myself, I showed up to a doctor’s appointment 45 min early by accident. I definitely did not mind the time to myself reading magazine and enjoying the peace and quiet!

It looks like you had such a fun weekend, and that’s nice you got to catch up with old friends for a weekend while your girls were in great hands 😀 I’ve never been to Nashville, but it definitely looks like a cool town! I think a beach location like the Outer Banks would be my choice for a Bachelorette party. The perfect mix of low-key, good food and good weather-in the summer of course 🙂
Marnie @ SuperSmartMama says
I actually didn’t have a bachelorette party. But I did my plan my best friend’s party in New York City and that was a challenge, because I had to plan it from Hawaii (where I was living at the time).

Bachelorette parties are always so much fun. I’ve never been to Nashville but it seems like anyone that’s been there has only great things to say about it.
My bachelorette party was in a pretty small town in the middle of where me and all of the girls coming were from – within driving distance. That made it really fun because we really didn’t know anyone and just had a blast!

I have actually never been to Nashville, and am dying to go!

I love Nashville!! It’s one of the few places I would want to live besides where I live now. Looks like a fun time!!
My bachelorette party was actually a good, old-fashioned slumber party with my girls. I loved every minute of it and it’s a cherished memory.
