When Hailey was a baby, she’d bounce in her exersaucer while I chopped and sautéed. When she started sitting up and crawling, I’d let her destroy my Tupperware cabinet to entertain herself while I sliced and diced. Now that Hailey is a vivacious toddler, distracting her is impossible. She wants to be part of the action and I’m embracing it. No, more than that. I’m loving it.
Having a sidekick in the kitchen makes experimenting so much more fun.
She handles all the quality control.
I find myself creating ideas that center around her favorite flavors, like cherries.
I love watching her reactions as she learns (from a safe distance) how kitchen appliances work and sound.
I like thinking of fun twists to add extra nutrition or a hidden surprise.
And making sure presentation and function are suitable for her cute little hands.
The only downside of my sous chef being so young is an early bedtime.
Which means taste-testing often has to wait until the next day.
But lucky for her, I took one for the team. I enthusiastically approve.
Discovering the frozen berries as I licked my way through this treat made me giddy in anticipation to present these to Hailey as a post-nap snack. She’s going to flip!

I can’t wait to try these! My daughter LOVES the little frozen yogurt bites that you did on Fox News Rising a couple months ago – she’ll frantically sign “more” and scream “Mah! Mah!” (her word for ‘more’) every night after dinner. So those are definitely our favorite frozen treat 🙂

Some of my favorite childhood memories were cooking in the kitchen with my mom. She wasn’t even that great of a cook in all honesty, but when I was little I had no idea. I just loved being able to pour things and mix things! She will definitely remember it! 🙂
Maybe that’s why I love cooking my own food now!

Yum, these look awesome! For some reason my 3 1/2 yr old son says popsicles are too cold, but he likes to eat ice cream. Maybe I’ll try some fruity frozen yogurt. I’ve got a bunch of blueberries in my fridge that I need to use up anyway.

Those look delicious! Hailey is such a cutie and those berry pops look perfect for all ages 🙂

YUM! I love that she “helps” you. Too cute. When I turn kitchen appliances on, Wyatt always thinks he’s getting a smoothie.

So simple and versatile! I just bought some popsicle molds too!

Love it! My little guy loves to help in the kitchen. Which leads to more mess and more fun! We love to make smoothie pops by mixing up green smoothie ingredients then freezing them. Our latest creation was coconut cream (TJ’s thick can), fresh strawberries, shredded coconut and chia seeds blended up then frozen in popsicle cups. Yum!

Good that she wants to handle quality control. Watch out when she wants to get in on the quantity control-lol

Love this recipe! I make them for the kids to take to school for lunch (in the silicone pop molds.) Add a little spinach for extra vitamins! Great work on the TV show!
