When I first started Munchkin Meals, Hailey was 10 months old and was loving baby led weaning. I showed what she ate during one day. I loved that people linked up to share meal ideas. It was a lot of fun! I experimented with a few recipes to share like vegetable quinoa biscuits for babies.
As Hailey got older, I touched on our favorite quick meals, daily eats and had time to create more elaborate, fun meals for her like Hidden Veggie Pizza Bites, Corn Dog Mini Muffins and Wild Salmon Nuggets. With Kaitlynβs arrival I havenβt had the time to play around in the kitchen to create recipes and Iβve wondered if interest in what Hailey is eating has waned?
Her meals are much more simple now, like these:
Plain Fage Yogurt mixed with honey and topped with figs and chia seed βsprinkles.β
Brown rice and black beans mixed with salsa and sour cream with tomatoes and avocado.
Tuna fish salad with Annieβs Mac βn Cheese and apples.
Scrambled eggs, cheese toast and strawberries.
Pacific Foodsβ Organic Baked Beans, corn muffin and red peppers.
Cheese burger bites with peas and grapes.
Kaitlyn is 15 weeks old and time is flying. She will be 4 months on the 16th of September. A few people have asked my introduction to solids plan for her. Since baby led weaning worked beautifully for Hailey, my hope is to go that route again. I plan to wait until she is 6 months old, then introduce non-pureed foods. I want to use the Munchkin Meals space to share our journey. I get countless emails about Haileyβs introduction to solids process and would like to share what works for us in more detail.
I know no two babies are the same and I donβt know what to expect from Kaitlyn. However, I do hope to share our journey openly and bring Munchkin Meals full circle, back to baby talk.
So my questions for you areβ¦
Do you still enjoy seeing Haileyβs meals?
What questions about introducing solids do you have that I could share what works for us (and open for discussion to get all you awesome moms opinions on)?
Would you like for me to keep it as a link up?
Any other feedback?
And for those that post awesome ideas to share, here is the link up! Thank you for participating!

I still enjoy you sharing meals that you give hailey. I think it gives me good alternatives or ideas for my kiddos and I think readers will appreciate your ideas when hailey goes off to school and you pack lunches. Then we can also hear how to you manage hailey being at one stage and Kaitlyn another….. and kids with different tastes and preferences. So, I say, keep sharing hailey’s food!!

I’ve really enjoyed these posts as a linky party – they’ve always been a great resource of ideas for my own toddler π

I really enjoy seeing Hailey’s meals and am looking forward to learning more about baby lead weaning when Kaitlyn starts eating. Thanks for sharing!

I think a post showing what your, hailey, and kaitlyns meals all look like would be awesome! I can’t imagine grocery shopping for 3 different ages. (and I apologize if I got spelling wrong for the girls!)

I love reading the Munchkin Meals posts, because they give me inspiration when I feel I’m in a rut with my child’s meals! I love the ideas in today’s post.

I started reading your blog because of Munchkin Meals. I have trouble coming up with fresh meal ideas for my toddler, and you have an endless supply! I’d love to see more, and to see how you create meals for both kids as Kaitlyn starts eating solids.

I love seeing your munchkin meals- I’d like to continue seeing what the whole family is eating.

I love this feature and can’t waitto be more involved in the next year as our twins grow and start eating real food π

Yes, yes, yes! I have a toddler the same age & I love getting new ideas for what to feed her. It’s so easy to get stuck in a food rut, especially now that we have an infant!!
We are currently going through the baby led weaning approach to solids for the first time with our son who is 8 months old. I remember being very intimidated by the whole process when we began. It was so scary to think about letting him put food in his mouth. Maybe that can be a topic you can discuss in a few months when you start solids the second time around??

I LOVE seeing your munchkin meals although they always shine a light on what my own three year old would NEVER eat! Although as I begin to make more school lunches for my oldest I am inspired by your healthy meal ideas so keep em coming!

I still love seeing Hailey’s meals – I have a 2-year-old of my own (a bit younger than Hailey) and it always helps to have new ideas. Different brains think of different things, right? I’d love to see Kaitlyn’s food too once you’re at that point of course. π

I love seeing Hailey’s meals! She is similar in age to my little guy so it’s great to get new ideas. She eats so well and you do such an awesome job of giving her well rounded meals π

I’m still interested! My little guy is almost 8 months (OMG!) so we are knee deep in introducing solids. We started out doing BLW, but I have added in some purees more recently and he seems to enjoy that even more. I still plan on doing the finger foods to get him used to more textures and for his dexterity.
I’m curious about seasonings and spices. I know no salt or anything spicy of course, but what types of flavors can you incorporate for babies to make some of the blander food more interesting?
I LOVE your blog by the way- by far one of my favorites. You are so relatable π
Heather says
I still enjoy seeing Hailey’s meals as I have a 2.5 year old and it’s great to see what other kiddos are eating because it often gives me ideas on how to mix up an old favorite or perhaps get him to try something new (picky eater over here!!). I have a 10 month old as well, so the ideas are still useful for her as well. She pretty much decided we’re doing full BLW. Ha ha.
Katie says
Yes, please continue to share! π My daughter will be six months old next week, and I have no idea what I’m doing when it comes to baby meals!
Christina says
I love seeing your munchkin meals! My daughter is about to be 5 months and I’m thinking about starting her on solids (BLW) with a mix of some purees but I’m not sure. I was planning on posting about our experience on my blog, would it be ok if I use your term of munchkin meals? I’ve always called it that but I saw it on your blog and wanted to make sure I wasn’t stepping on le ole toes π

I do enjoy seeing Hailey’s meals, and I’m also looking forward to hearing about your introduction of solids with Kaitlyn. Since Hunter is of toddler age now, I’m always looking to get more meal and snack ideas for him. I am hoping he ends up being as good of an eater as Hailey! π Something I’d like to hear more about: What are some struggles you’ve had with with Hailey and eating? (Or maybe there hasn’t been much of any and she’s always been a great eater?)

I love it! I want to keep seeing what you’re feeding Hailey! It helps with me (and I love seeing kids mealsβ¦true story!) I totally still want it to be a link up! I might even throw together a post about Nia today too so I can link up (I remembered but forgot at the same time that today was the first Thursday of the month!)
I seriously am making that brown rice and black bean dish for lunch now!

I have loved seeing what you’ve fed Hailey over the years, and now that I have my own baby I am VERY interested in some kind of overview of what worked and how you introduced and plan on introducing solids. (I guess I could also go back and read the archives…) We’ll be introducing solids in about two months and I think my hubby is freaked out by the idea of not doing purees, so I really want to have some good info to share with him!

As the general consensus seems to agree, I’d like to see both kids meals. My daughter is 11 months and I love looking back on what you gave H when she was the same age, and I still like seeing what you do now to get ideas for the future.
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl says
I love seeing her meals! I think they are inspiring to me because I hope to feed my future children such well-balanced and healthy meals someday.

I still like seeing munchkin meals. It gives me ideas for my kiddo. My girl just started preschool and I need ideas for school lunches. Could you do a lunchbox theme one week?

I think this is still fun to read about and will be especially so as you start Kaitlyn on solids. And you know I enjoy linking up, although I’m behind on today’s post thanks to binge-watching Breaking Bad.

Your munchkin meals posts are my favorite both because of your beautiful presentation of food and also because I get new ideas or twists on meals I already make. Please continue! I love hearing what other kids are eating.

With a child close to the same age I still enjoy seeing what Hailey eats and getting meal ideas. I am now pregnant with my second and will have to go through it all again too but would like to approach it differently this time (we waited until 8 months last time and I often have to wonder if that’s part of why he’s so picky).
Joni says
I definitely still enjoy seeing these, especially for ideas of what kids will REALLY eat π my daughter is just about to turn 1, so I’m always so interested in the journey of their eating habits, not just how to begin! Like when do they start using utensils, and cups, and bigger food (like sandwiches), and spoonable foods like soup, and introducing them to spicier foods, etc. There’s so many posts about how to begin BLW which I appreciated as it definitely worked for us, but I like hearing about other children’s evolutions of eating habits. Thanks!!

I’m expecting my first child in Novemeber and when I found your blog I specifically bookmarked because of the Munchkin Meals π Needless to say I’m a daily reader but I love your creativity with the munchkin meals and want to reference them when my little guy starts eating adult food. So even if you stop the posts, just keep the link to your previous munchkin meal posts for reference please π

I just used the Munchkin Meals link today and made the coconut kale power juice – yum! Please keep it up – we love your ideas and tips!

I would love to hear what you’re feeding both Kaitlyn and Hailey.
My sister has a 5 year old boy who is a very fussy eater (rarely will eat veggies and rarely moves away from bread/ ham/egg), and she recently had twin girls. I would love to pass on any advice you have for introducing a variety of food and nutrients into babies and youngsters lives.

Love getting great toddler meals from you! I have one super picky eater and one that will eat most anything. Thanks for sharing!!!

Yes, please continue to post H’s meals. My kids are older but it still gives me ideas.

I use MM for a guideline regularly with my first child, Brayden, who is a little younger than Hailey and still enjoy seeing what she eats. It is always nice to see what other kiddos are eating for new ideas! My daughter was born on the same day as Kaitlyn π so I would love to see posts about BLW with her. I didn’t do BLW with B but would like to try with Zoey. I really enjoyed making all the pureed food for Brayden, and may do some with Zoey, but would like to try BLW and any advice from someone that has done it would be helpful!

Absolutely keep up munchkin meals and sharing what Haileys eating I love getting new ideas for my 3 & 1 year old.

Yes! Please keep the link-up! I love it for my son and have garnered a lot of ideas from your posts. I’ve slacked on joining the link-up, but with this post, I think next month I’ll join in. I really haven’t been photographing Emmett’s food bc it just doesn’t seem exciting, but I think I’ll join in anyway, you never know who’s watching, or reading.
As for watching your journey w/ BLW with Kaitlyn – I can’t wait!!!

Love these great ideas! My daughter is 1.5 and I love the inspiration for meals for her. Thanks!

Please, please do continue to show us what your daughter eats, I think the way my child eats I may need to look up for meal ideas until he’s off to college, I have a two year old now, thanks for posting your meals
